The sun is shining down on a beautiful Chicago afternoon. Groups of students are socializing on the green grass of the big open area. Some are playing frisbee, some are just sitting on the grass and benches talking to each other or listening to music on their ear buds. In one corner, tall trees provide shade from the sun, and under one of those trees sit a pair of Abel siblings...Jimmy and his little sister Emma.
Jimmy is taking sips out of his green water bottle as he looks out over the yard. His younger sister, with his dark brunette hair bundled up in a pony tail is huddled close to her older brother as she nurses her Grande iced caramel macchiato from the local Starbucks. Emma sips through the green straw as she looks at her brother from the corner of her eyes.
Emma Abel: You seem a bit preoccupied today bubbie.
Jimmy chuckles slightly as he shakes his head. He runs his left hand through his shaggy hair as his plain white t-shirt blows slightly in the breeze.
Jimmy Abel: You know I'm not the biggest fan of you calling me "Bubbie."
Emma Abel: I know...That's about 95% of the reason why I keep calling you that.
Jimmy Abel: Remind me again why I bring you Starbucks every other day?
Emma Abel: Because I'm your sister and you LOVE me....
Emma giggles and gives her brother a tight hug around his neck as Jimmy just sits there shaking his head. Emma sits back with a smile and exhales deeply.
Emma Abel: So seriously, what's going through that thick head of yours?
Jimmy Abel: It's...I have a big opportunity next week laid out in front of me. I have a chance to become the first person to hold the Heartland Championship in New Edge Wrestling. Not only that, it could be my first championship in the United States! It's a tremendous opportunity ahead of me...It's just-
Emma Abel: You're not so sure you want it. Right?
Abel just stares down at the green grass ahead of his. He reaches in front of him and pulls out a specific blade of grass and rubs its between his fingers.
Jimmy Abel: I'm not ready...I should be. But I'm not.
Emma Abel: You're one of the best wrestlers I know. You're probably my favorite wrestler on the planet...
Jimmy Abel: I'm your brother. I better be.
Emma Abel: You know what I mean. You are a great wrestler and I am proud of you for everything you have done. This week, I just want to see you go out there and give it all you have. Win or lose...As long as you do that, you're going to be a champion in my book. Whether you walk out of that building the champion or not.
Jimmy Abel: But if I don't win...I let everyone down who is cheering for me
Emma Abel: What kind of nonsense is that? Fight with honor. That's what the Abels do. No matter what we do. No matter who the odds or what the results. We fight and do the right thing. That is what you're going to do at Ignite next week. You're going to fight the right way and win or lose, you're going to walk out of that arena with your head held up high. You're a champion, it's time you act like it.
Abel can't help but to smirk a bit as he looks at his little sister.
Jimmy Abel: Damn Em...When did you become such a motivational speaker?
Emma Abel: It's that nursing program. Makes me a motivational leader.
Emma giggles slightly as Jimmy puts his arm over her shoulder lovingly. The siblings seem happy as the scene fades to black.
-----------
The scene reopens as Jimmy Abel is sitting on a stool in the corner of a wrestling ring. Abel has obviously been training hard as he was sweat covering his face and a white towel hung over his shoulders.
Jimmy Abel: The Heartland Championship. A rich prize is waiting on the other side of this week. That championship is just waiting for someone to claim it. And that someone is going to be me.
Teagan Taylor, you are an absolutely amazing wrestler and you deserve this match. I think you would make an amazing champion and I think it is a great honor to face you. I have no ill will or anything bad to say about you. You're a great talent and I think you and I could have an amazing match. Sincerely, this is a great chance for us to prove that we belong in New Edge and I know that we will.
Dasha I will admit I don't know much more about. I've seen the tape and I respect her skill. She is a dangerous opponent and I realize that if I leave myself open that she will make me pay. So I'll make sure I don't. I'll make sure that everything she throws at me that I'll have a counter.
This is an opportunity to make a name for myself. This is my chance to make a real and significant impact in this company and it's only my second match. Some people would be surprised that a guy in his 2nd match in a company would even get a title match.
But I can't focus on that. All I can do...Is fight as hard as I can. To get in that ring and do everything in my power to win that belt. And if I fall short...at least I know I did everything I could. Win, lose or draw...I'm Abel to fight....and if I bring my A game...I'll be Abel to win.
Abel nods as it fades to black.
