PART ONE
Tegan Taylor had flown off to Las Vegas after Lights Out. She wanted to relax and train somewhere new for a change and lucky for her, her friend Tyson Gregory lived above a training facility in Las Vegas. Tegan totally had a thing for Tyson too which made the whole trip a bit more interesting for her on top of the idea of having a new person to train with. The match at Ignite was going to be huge though and she wanted as many new ideas on how to win it she could get.
She landed in Las Vegas and Tyson picked her up. The first day was her being a tourist though, seeing sights, gambling and eating various exotic foods. Then they started training and Tegan was really starting to feel like she could win the Heartland Championship. Tyson had a different style then she did so it opened up her eyes to things she could do differently or how to counter other things. Eventually though her trip was winding down and she was in Tyson’s apartment, wearing a towel and brushing her long blonde hair when her phone went off.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Hey daddy!
SIMON TAYLOR: Hey Tee! How is your trip going?
Tegan’s father, Simon, had been strangely silent the last few days but she figured he had been busy with work or something. She leaned up against the sink with the phone in her hand.
TEGAN TAYLOR: It’s been amazing! Went to a few shows, had some amazing food but mostly I’ve been training a lot. Hiked in the hills too one day which was beautiful and hot. I probably sweated off ten pounds. We will have to come visit her together sometime.
SIMON TAYLOR: That’d be fantastic.
TEGAN TAYLOR: What have you been up to? Usually I hear from you more often.
SIMON TAYLOR: I know but you’ve been there with that Tyson boy, right? I didn’t know exactly what was going on with that so I figured I’d let you have your own time there. Plus Denise came to visit for a few days and I showed her around New Orleans.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Oh really? You two are certainly getting close.
SIMON TAYLOR: We are! I really like her, Tee. She’s sweet, funny and we both can talk about the business since we both have girls in it. It’s weird but I feel a strong connection to her even though we’ve only known each other a couple months.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Well I’m happy for you! She seems… Alright.
SIMON TAYLOR: Just alright? Are you still made about her coming out during your match?
TEGAN TAYLOR: Maybe. I just hope you told her that on Ignite that I’m winning the Heartland Championship on my own. No help, just Tegan. I probably shouldn’t start talking in the first person like that or people will think I’m crazy.
SIMON TAYLOR: I’ll make sure she knows. I’ll even watch her backstage during your match. Sound good?
Tegan was happy her dad was happy but she didn’t trust Denise either. Blair didn’t really like Tegan and Denise tried to cheat for Tegan so both of them were questionable at best in her mind. Yet if her dad was into the whole thing then she had to support it somewhat.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Yup, she is your responsibility though.
SIMON TAYLOR: I’m totally alright with that. So what are you up to? You are leaving tonight, right? Heading to Michigan?
TEGAN TAYLOR: Not much right now. Just went for a run and took a shower. Nothing too exciting planned either. Probably going to take Tyson out for dinner as a thank you for being so nice this whole time.
SIMON TAYLOR: Are you and this Tyson a thing?
TEGAN TAYLOR: A thing?
SIMON TAYLOR: You know…
TEGAN TAYLOR: I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what we are. We are friends for sure and I like him and I think he likes me but I don’t know if he likes me likes me. It’s complicated and I’m not getting more into it with you.
SIMON TAYLOR: That’s fair. Maybe I need to meet him and see what kind of guy he really is.
TEGAN TAYLOR: God no. That sounds awkward for him and you.
As she said that though Tyson actually came inside the apartment, he had been down in the gym while she’d been running. He headed into the bathroom and smiled as he saw her in a towel. She pointed at the phone and mouthed “My dad” at him.
SIMON TAYLOR: We will see about that. Has your trip gotten you ready for Ignite at all? I know you wanted some fresh eyes on your work before the match and all.
TEGAN TAYLOR: It’s been great. Tyson has had some great ideas for me and I think I can utilize what he’s taught me into my style to help get the edge on both Jimmy and Dasha… If Dasha still exists that is. At least we heard from Jimmy so I know I’m not the only person who cares about winning this. I don’t get how some people flake out when they have such a big match coming up. It’s weird.
SIMON TAYLOR: Not everyone has your drive, Tegan.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Jimmy seems like a good guy though and his heart is in the right place. I’m glad I’m facing him…
Her voice drifted off a bit as Tyson removed her shirt in front of her. He looked over at her though and she turned her eyes away, her cheeks turning bright red right away. He then turned the shower on as he laughed a bit to himself at her reaction. She was a bit shy with guys she liked and Tyson had been so sweet she didn’t want to see weird to him.
SIMON TAYLOR: What was that noise?
TEGAN TAYLOR: You know dad… I should go.
SIMON TAYLOR: You okay?
TEGAN TAYLOR: I’m fine! Just got out of the shower though and I need to do my hair and stuffs.
SIMON TAYLOR: Alright. Love you.
TEGAN TAYLOR: Loves!
Tegan hung up her phone, shaking her head a bit, still embarrassed a bit by her reaction to the shirtless Tyson. She’d seen him shirtless plenty in the ring but for some reason it was different in the bathroom alone together. As she looked up at the mirror again she saw Tyson behind her and he spun her around by her hips.
TYSON GREGORY: Were you checking me out, Miss Taylor?
What?! Come seriously… You are just a handsome, chiseled out of marble like some Roman statue kind of guy. Nothing too fancy.
TYSON GREGORY: Chiseled out of marble? I like the sound of that. I may use it. Anyways I’m going to take a shower and you need to pack up for your plane tonight.
I know. I’m looking forward to my match but I like it here in Vegas too.
TYSON GREGORY: You can come visit anytime.
With that he leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips. Instantly Tegan felt butterflies in the pit of her stomach and then it was over. He grinned at her before turning and heading towards the shower. Tegan grabbed her brush and headed out to give him some privacy as her mind swirled with thoughts about the kiss. Did that mean they were more than friends or was it a friendly kiss? She had no idea but she knew it’d be on her mind the whole plane trip back and probably all the way up until she stepped in the ring at Ignite.
PART TWO
The Palace of Auburn Hills arena was nearly empty. The ring crew had already set-up the ring and they were doing the finishing touches on the stage the next day. It was fairly quiet inside too now that the hustle of the set-up was over. Tegan Taylor stood in the middle of it all, in the middle of the ring inside the empty arena. The camera crew was set-up around her and she was leaning on the ropes, looking out at the empty seats. The idea that they’d be full of people cheering for her in a day was pretty thrilling and she couldn’t wait for Ignite to start. It had been two weeks since her last match but it felt like a million years.
She was going to be in the ring with Dasha and Jimmy Abel, both very talented and both people who had earned their spot in this match. Tegan had won her match under questionable circumstances but she was pushing that out of her mind. This was her match to win on her own and she needed to prove she could be a champion, to herself, to her doubters and to all her fans around the country. She took a deep breath as the camera crew finished setting up and she turned towards the camera with a smile. This was her last chance to speak her mind on Ignite and she had a few things to say before her title match.
TEGAN TAYLOR: In just twenty-four hours I’ll be inside the ring and fighting for my first championship in New Edge Wrestling. That’s crazy, right? In one day from now I could be the Heartland Champion. I could be a champion along with Al Envy and Father Nathan. My name could be marked in history as the girl who won the new Heartland Championship on Ignite.
This is big deal. A huge deal in fact. I already spoke about it but I’m just so pumped up I figured I’d come out and blab a bit more. This match is so important I feel like I need to drive in the fact that this is a huge career making moment for the three people in this match. One of us will be Heartland Champion, people! It’s crazy to even think about. A career will go from rookie to champion in a flash. One of us will go from ordinary NEW superstar to someone who is a part of history. New Edge is full of history and champions I know but each one has their own claim to fame, their own bragging rights because of what they’ve done in the ring here. Jimmy, Dasha and myself don’t have anything to claim we’ve done in NEW.
Any of us could talk about what we did in some other place or some other country but does that matter? Jimmy and Dasha are both international stars so they’ve probably won championships in Japan or Russia or Europe. That is super impressive but the fans of NEW don’t know about that. They don’t know who they are or what they’ve done. You come to a new company and while you may of gotten hired on your past you are starting over. It’s a clean slate and nothing before counts really. This is all of our first chance at glory. This is our chance to go from claiming we are a star elsewhere and becoming a big stat here in New Edge.
Now do I want to come out here and promise I’ll win? Yeah… But realistically this is a three way and anyone could take it at any time. It’s going to be unpredictable and wild. I’m looking forward to it honestly. I think Jimmy Abel is too from what we heard from him before.
Jimmy is a lot like me from the sounds of it too. We both respect each other and we want to prove ourselves by doing the best we possibly can. We aren’t big mouths yapping about how we are unstoppable and disrespecting our opponents just to build up our own ego. Jimmy is a down to Earth guy and he’s doing this for the right reasons. If he wins the Heartland championship I know he’ll represent the championship well. I know he’ll hold it with honor and with dignity. Unfortunately though I have to do everything in my power to stop him from holding it. Not because I don’t think he’ll be a good champion but simply because I really, really want it. Is that bad? I mean that’s what we do, right? We are here to be the best and win championships so I am going to do just that if I’m able… But not Jimmy Abel but able able. Make sense? I’m confusing myself now…
Jimmy isn’t the only person in this thing though. Dasha is too and she’s been silent so far about this whole thing. Is she being sneaky? Does she think she can win so she’s not saying anything? Can she really be that cocky? I have no idea. I’m curious myself about what she thinks and what she’s planning. That may very well be here plan, keep us wondering before she steps into the ring. I know she’s fierce, powerful and she won’t hold back though so I’ll be as ready as I can be for her. She can stay silent or she can talk some trash, it won’t change anything for me. I’m sure she’ll probably act tough and mean because that’s her game but she has to back it up because I know Jimmy and myself can back up what we say.
She paused for a second, breaking down her opponents and stuff wasn’t very fun. She’d already done that and felt like she was just treading water. Maybe she should talk about something more fun, talk about how she’d act as a champion so people would want to see it.
TEGAN TAYLOR: But let’s pretend for a second I do win. What would Tegan Taylor do for the Heartland Championship? First off I’d probably bedazzle it. It is kind of plan and would need some sparkles, right? Second off I’d be more than happy to defend it anytime against anyone. I never would back down from a challenge and I’d be thrilled to be a fighting champion. I want to make people want to see the belt defended. I want to make it as exciting as Al Envy’s championship even. Plus I’d love to show the belt off with fans at signings and stuff. I’d be willing to do even more than I do now too. I want to share the championship and the excitement of winning it with the world.
I want to win this for myself of course. I won’t lie about that. But I want to win it for my fans, the ones who followed me from other companies to NEW and to my newer ones who are just starting to get to know me from my NEW career. This is going to be a win for all of us and to everyone who gets overlooked or ignored for being smaller or not being so serious and grumpy all the time. Tiny, happy blonde girls can win too and I’ll be proving that by winning this championship. I’m going out there and I’m fighting for all my friends, fans and family. This win is going to be the biggest of my career too, a title match during the Ignite main event, and I want people to talk about this match long after it’s over. History will be made and a new champion will be crowned on Ignite, how could you not watch?
This is gonna be way more exciting than that boxing over the weekend. More exciting than whatever kind of playoffs the NBA are doing too. This match will be high-flying, hard-hitting and history making, folks. This is going to be thee event to watch this week and if you miss out everyone will feel sad for you. You’ll have to watch it on YouTube and be the last person amongst your friends who witnessed the awesome sauce that will be this match. The Heartland Championship is a big deal and Ignite you’ll see someone claim it as their own. Good luck to Jimmy and Dasha too because if you guys aren’t ready to do your best I will promise you that you won’t be leaving with that belt. See you two at Ignite!
Tegan leans forward blowing a handful of glitter into the camera lens before turning and skipping towards the ropes to leave the ring. She felt good about what she said and she was eager to get into the ring on Ignite. The match couldn’t come sooner and win or lose Tegan was going to put her heart and soul into the match. She wanted to win that belt so bad and she wasn’t sure how she’d react if she didn’t win it.
