Show Opening...Rematch confirmed.
After the intro sequence for Ignite plays, the fans in Seattle are greeted to a pyrotechnics display, dazzling the crowd and inciting strong cheers as it concludes. The fans in attendance show off their signs as the cameras survey the arena, capturing as many people as possible. This leads to Jill Matthews and Vince Walters being shown at ringside, who are ready to call the action on this night.
Jill Matthews: Welcome ladies and gentleman to Ignite 158! I'm Jill Matthews alongside Vince Walters and Vince, what a show we have for the fans tonight!
Vince Walters: They're going to be better than your tits, Jill, and that's saying something! Tonight, in the Main Event, we're going to be seeing the NEW X-Core Champion Hazard take on the No.1 Contender for the NEW World Heavyweight Championship Valora for the first time ever! I can't wait to see those two get down and dirty!
Jill Matthews: And also for tonight, Bobby Backdoor and Tha Joka will be teaming up to take on Ryan Pugh and the NEW World Heavyweight Champion Matt Slater! Pugh and Slater want to defend the future of NEW, and Backdoor and Joka want to destroy it!
Vince Walters: It pains me to say, but I'm rooting for Pugh and Slater, because I don't want to see NEW end at the hands of Phoenix! And if you recall, the Joka attacked me last week! I'm still bruised and banged up after that!
Jill Matthews: I'm sorry if I didn't show any compassion for you. As well as those matches we have Cera taking on Inkt, Seth Iser taking on Ryan Pugh, and Last Chance will face Kronin to decide the No.1 Contender for the NEW X-Core Championship!
Vince Walters: And let's not forget that Scarlet will be defending the NEW Trans-Atlantic Championship in a Three Way Elimination Match against KOP and Father Nathan! This show is going to be huge!
Once Jill and Vince finish opening up the show with their brief run-down of the night's matches, the lights in the arena go out. The crowd respond to this change, and haunting music begins to play from the speakers.
Jill Matthews: What in the hell is this? We are hearing some strange music right now and the lights in the arena have gone out. Like most of the time no one ever knows what is going to happen here with the NEW. Now there is a spotlight in the middle of the ring. What the hell is going on?
"In Yo Face" by The Insane Clown Posse then plays on the sound system as the people in the arena are shrouded in darkness. The spotlight is waiting in the middle of the ring as a man in a dark black hood and faded jeans comes out. His face is not recognizable to the people but he continues the slow ass walk to the ring. He is surrounded by New Edge Wrestling security as he slowly walks up the ring steps and into the ring. With one motion he lifts the hood and reveals himself to be the former World Champion Hunter Valentyne. He motions for a microphone as he looks out to the people who hate his fucking guts.
Hunter: A lot of people do not understand this business. They are marks for this business and for the NEW. They believe the hype that idiots, who have no clue what the fuck they are talking about, are saying about them. Usually if an idiot says something, you can be relatively certain they are wrong. But if a group of idiots like the ones that inhabit the locker room speak about one person, then morons like you people in the crowd tend to believe it. This is where we find ourselves two weeks after Justice.
Jill Matthews: What is Hunter going on about?
Hunter: Honestly the thought entered my mind to retire from this business forever. The mistake that I made was giving a damn what people in that locker room thought of me. I cared what you idiots in the front row thought. In reality, none of those opinions mean anything, much like Slater’s bogus so-called World Title win. I brought this piece of shit Violation Title to the ring with me to show you how little Slater’s win over me meant.
Jill Matthews: That's the belt that Slater left with Hunter at Justice 5, a belt that is supposed to represent everything Hunter stands for, and how he has violated his own rules.
The fans in the crowd are booing loudly at the man in the middle of the ring. He stands in the ring not soaking up the boos like normal but waits for them to settle down a little bit. Hunter is standing in front of the camera leaning on the top rope.
Hunter: Are you done yet? We all know Slater is. You see this whole Two Falls of Honor was his fucking idea. Rule number one when wrestling in your own gimmick match is to understand the rules of it. His little bitch ass never made me submit. So in short he never won two falls so I defended my title. Of course no one fixed that wrong in the New Edge Wrestling hierarchy. As usual I will have to fix the wrongs of this company by making a mother fucker bleed and tap the fuck out.
The camera pans back to the backstage area where Slater is watching Hunter Valentyne speak his mind intently. He is so focused on what is being said he does not realize someone is behind him. The man taps Slater on the shoulder and, after Slater turns around, hands him a piece of paper. Slater looks down at the piece of the paper and then back at the man.
Slater: What is this?
Man: Congratulations, Mister Slater. You have been served.
Slater: What?
The camera pans back to Hunter in the middle of the ring with a smile on his face. It is the first show of emotion since the former champion returned to the company after a two week absence. The smile grows wider and leads to a maniacal laugh.
Hunter: You see, Slater, you keep trying to tell the world you wish to save New Edge Wrestling from me and from the Mafia. Now you get that opportunity to do exactly that. The reason why I'm laughing is because someone has probably handed you a piece of paper right now, and you're wondering what the fuck it means. Seeing as I know you cannot read, I will tell you exactly what that little piece of paper is. That, my little bitch, is a restraining order against you and against New Edge Wrestling. It simply states that if you defend the World Title that is still legitimately my property, you will be held in contempt of court. New Edge Wrestling will lose its license to operate in the state of Illinois for an entire year. So this is your chance hero. Save the company by agreeing to my match. I have no problem defending my World Title against you in a match of my choosing. I let you choose the match for Justice 5, and as usual you fucked it up royally.
Jill Matthews: What? But Slater won fair and square! Is he delusional?
Vince Walters: Not even Slater would be stupid enough to say no! He'll stop Jesse getting a load of money from the Chicago market!
Jill Matthews: That's not the point!
Hunter: You will be the challenger for MY World Title in a match to determine the winner of Justice Five. You see I do not have to give you a title shot since you fucked up the first one, but I am a nice person. The match should have been a draw since I never gave up so this is legit still my fucking belt. No count out. No DQ. No stopping the match due to excessive blood loss. It will be inside a fifteen foot high steel cage. No one from the Mafia or United is allowed at ringside. The only way to win the match is to make your opponent submit. You know what a submission is right? That is the thing your bitch ass could not make me do at Justice Five in the Two Falls of Honor Match. Anything goes for the World Title. Do you have the balls to get that shit done? Let's be honest, you don't have a choice now do you? So come on out bitch. Come out and accept my terms.
Jill Matthews: This is a bunch of crap...
Vince Walters: Wait a minute, Hunter has a point! I mean Slater didn't make him submit or say that he quits, so Hunter should still be...
Vince is interrupted by "Long Forgotten Sons" by Rise Against, and the crowd cheer loudly for the reigning NEW World Heavyweight Champion. Matt Slater then walks out with the World Title on his shoulder, holding the restraining order in his hand. He also has a microphone in the other hand, and Slater stops on the stage, staring at Hunter from afar.
Jill Matthews: And there's the rightful World Heavyweight Champion!
Vince Walters: You're just as flawed as our management is!
The crowd chant "Slater" as the champion analyses the document, looking at Hunter every so often. He eventually lifts the microphone to his lips as Hunter smirks wickedly from the ring.
Matt Slater: It seems to me you're just a little bit upset...
A few laughs come from the crowd as Hunter continues to look on, still surrounded by his security team.
Matt Slater: Obviously you can't accept the fact that you lost, so you're filing an injunction against me for holding on to your ... ahem ... "legitimate property". I would do air quotes, but my hands are a little full at the moment.
Slater looks at the microphone and paper in his hand as the crowd laugh along again. Hunter doesn't seem to find this funny, but that's when Slater gets a serious expression on his face.
Matt Slater: But seriously, Hunter ... you know as well as I do that passing out in a match is deemed a legitimate fall. There have been many matches that have ended this way in professional wrestling, and every competitor that has passed out in those matches has officially lost. Let me give you an example...
Slater paces on the stage as Hunter looks on, wondering what Slater is going to bring up.
Matt Slater: Not too long ago, I competed against Johnny Stylez in an Xtreme Submission Match. That match sounds familiar, doesn't it? Why, that's the exact same match you just came up with, only it's going to take place inside a Steel Cage. So you must know the rules, right? Well let me explain how that match ended.
Vince Walters: ... Hey, wait...
Matt Slater: I got struck in the back of the head and driven down to the canvas, and Johnny applied a Crossface Chickenwing. I passed out from the pain, and the referee grabbed my arm and dropped it once ... dropped it twice ... dropped it three times. And do you know what happened? The bell rang to end the contest, Hunter, and I legitimately lost.
The crowd boo Slater losing, but some cheer, comprehending what Slater is saying. Soon more cheers develop as they start to understand, and Hunter's expression changes into an angry scowl.
Matt Slater: I lost the exact same way you lost at Justice 5, Hunter. That counted as a submission. Did I complain about it? No, I didn't. I was certainly agitated by the loss and the controversy surrounding it, but I understood what happened. I wasn't able to muster up the energy to recover in time, and Johnny left Detroit that night with a victory on his record. But your logic states that it should be a draw in that circumstance, so did I really lose against Johnny? Well if other matches have ended that way, then I suppose everyone else never really lost, did they?
Jill Matthews: I hope you're listening to this, Vince.
Vince Walters: I don't want to!
Matt Slater: With that being said ... this injunction can't exactly be ignored, can it?
Hunter: No, it can't, and you don't have any other choice! Now accept the damn paperwork, and give me back my title!
The crowd boo thunderously as Hunter stares at Slater, who remains calm and collected on the stage.
Matt Slater: You see, Hunter ... I would give you your title ... but I don't seem to have it in my possession.
Vince Walters: What? It's on your damn shoulder, you idiot!
Matt Slater: Obviously Vince Walters disagrees with me. I can see you from here, slouched behind that desk looking pissed off.
Slater waves towards Vince as the crowd cheer.
Matt Slater: Allow me to explain. The championship you held as champion? Well that was ruined by Colt, wasn't it?
Hunter growls at the mentioning of Colt's name.
Matt Slater: When I defeated you at Justice 5 ...before I got my ass handed to me by Phoenix ... I was handed the belt you wore on that historic night. And as I held it in my hands, feeling euphoric and relieved that I was finally the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, I noticed Colt's name plate welded onto the belt. You never got it changed.
Jill Matthews: You know what? He never did!
Matt Slater: So once I partially recovered from the ramifications of our match and the attack at the hands of Phoenix, I got in touch with Ryan Pugh.
The crowd cheer loudly for the legend, doing so as Hunter looks even more pissed off.
Matt Slater: I'm sure you've heard of him. He's the guy who has a 25% ownership stake in New Edge Wrestling. Anyway, I informed him that I wanted a new belt to replace the one Colt tarnished, and he explained to me that all new champions get new belts and name plates engraved. And since I was officially deemed the NEW World Heavyweight Champion, I was granted a new belt, and that paperwork was officially signed by Ryan Pugh, naming me the official NEW World Heavyweight Champion!
Vince Walters: What?!
Jill Matthews: He has ownership privileges! He has the authority to do that!
Matt Slater: Now you can say that Jesse Styles can overrule Pugh's authority with his 75% ownership, but even Jesse, the leader of the Styles Mafia, the man you work under too, called me the NEW World Heavyweight Champion last week when he made a match between me and Nocturnal. So if you do the math, Hunter ... that means I received a 100% approval rating from both owners.
The crowd cheer loudly once again as Slater looks at the belt on his shoulder.
Matt Slater: You probably don't believe me, but that's okay. I suppose I'll come a bit closer so that you can see it with your own eyes.
Slater starts to walk down the ramp, keeping the NEW World Heavyweight Championship on his shoulder. The crowd chant "Slater" again as Slater reaches the ring, staring upwardly at Hunter. Hunter glances at the championship and notices that the belt is indeed brand new, with a brand new name plate attached that says Matt Slater engraved on the gold. Even a nearby cameraman shows it on the big screen, causing the crowd to cheer again. Hunter simmers as Slater stands there, staring at his nemesis.
Matt Slater: Now that you've seen the evidence ... and I'm sure the paperwork is around somewhere ... you know that I'm telling the truth. You seem to have a hard time with that. But as far as this injunction is concerned...?
Slater looks at the paperwork, smirking as he does so.
Matt Slater: It states that you're still the champion of the belt you possessed at Justice 5. Well ... seeing as how new paperwork was filed, making me the official NEW World Heavyweight Champion, I suppose that makes you ... the "Colt" Heavyweight Champion. And wherever that tarnished belt is ... you can have it back. That's your property, Hunter ... not mine.
The crowd cheer loudly at this revelation, and Hunter starts shaking the ropes with anger.
Hunter: You're a piece of shit! I'm going to kick your ass inside that Steel Cage, and I'm going to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion again!
Matt Slater: That's if I accept your terms, Hunter ... and you know what? I do accept.
The crowd cheer loudly, knowing that Slater will compete against Hunter inside a Steel Cage in an Xtreme Submission Match.
Matt Slater: I do accept your match to put the "Colt" Heavyweight Championship on the line as the defending champion against me, since you're nice enough to give me an opportunity at that desecrated belt. But I'm also going to be putting my NEW World Heavyweight Championship on the line. You have a rematch clause in your contract for this belt, and I'm going to honor those wishes. And this time, Hunter, you're not going to lose by passing out. This time ... it will satisfy me even more to hear you quit ... or tap out on the canvas.
More cheers erupt from the crowd, a crowd that wants to see Slater make Hunter tap out or scream that he quits.
Matt Slater: Nocturnal will have to wait an extra week to face whoever the champion is, but I'm sure he won't care who he faces. But there's more thing for you to consider, Hunter. Since you think Jim Floss made a critical mistake at Justice 5, well ...I'm going to give you the option of naming a Special Referee. I'm sure you'll pick someone who won't be biased, and there will be a line of neutrality between us. And next week, Hunter, that very referee will bear witness to you finally tapping out to me ... and I will officially retain the NEW World Heavyweight Championship!
The crowd cheer thunderously as Slater drops the microphone in front of Hunter, backing away as he starts to tear up the injunction, having approved of all of its rules and regulations. Hunter remains still in the ring as he glares coldly at Slater, watching the legitimate NEW World Heavyweight Champion walk away.
Jill Matthews: Well the truth has been dished out on Hunter once again, and he is absolutely livid!
Vince Walters: He's the "Colt" Heavyweight Champion, and Slater is the NEW World Heavyweight Champion?! And both belts will be on the line next week?! This can't be happening!
Jill Matthews: Well it is, and Slater was logical with everything he said! Hunter never got the belt changed! Slater won the match fair and square when Hunter properly passed out while in Slater's hold, and his arm dropped three times to indicate a submission! There was new paperwork organized by Ryan Pugh, making Slater the official NEW World Heavyweight Champion. And Hunter's property is the one that Colt ruined!
Vince Walters: I don't believe this! This is a disgrace!
Jill Matthews: But Slater also said that Hunter gets to name a Special Referee, so that there is no bias during their match. I wonder who he's going to pick?
As soon as Slater reaches the stage, Hunter starts to speak into the microphone.
Hunter: Hey Slater. I just came up with the Special Referee.
Slater focuses on Hunter again as the challenger to his title smirks.
Hunter: The Special Referee ... is going to be Nocturnal!
Slater's expression changes into a cold stare as Hunter cackles. All the while the crowd boo Nocturnal's inclusion, but they are unsure if he will agree or not.
Jill Matthews: Nocturnal is going to be the Special Guest Referee?! He can't stand both of these men!
Vince Walters: And that's what makes it fair! That's what makes it neutral! Nocturnal will see Hunter win his title back, and then those two will collide in two weeks time!
Jill Matthews: That's if Slater loses, and I don't think Slater has any intention of losing to Hunter Valentyne! He wants to represent this company as a respectable champion, and Slater has already honoured Hunter's rematch clause by accepting his terms!
As Slater and Hunter continue to stare at each other, the show cuts to a short advertisement.
After the intro sequence for Ignite plays, the fans in Seattle are greeted to a pyrotechnics display, dazzling the crowd and inciting strong cheers as it concludes. The fans in attendance show off their signs as the cameras survey the arena, capturing as many people as possible.
