We shall always be United
We cut in live to the Cow Palace for another edition of Ignite with a sell out crowd in attendance. The fans seem pumped for what's to be another great show especially with the NEW title on the line in the main event. Champ Slater taking on challenger Nocturnal a long with so much much more! We then quickly cut backstage to United's locker room.
The members of United sit in a circle going counter clockwise from an empty seat; Larry Goldstein, Ryan Omega, his wife Rayne, Reya Serra, Paxar Vega, Matt Slater, Kronin, and Dixie Clement. Kronin and looks on with an optimistic face. Slater has a rather irritated scowl as he repeatedly taps his fist to his knee. Dixie keeps her eyes locked in the direction of Rayne, Reya, Paxar, and Slater. Larry notes the emotions on everyone's faces. Omega eases back in his seat as the Awakening and Paxar keep cheerful. United's shared locker room is about to host the group's meeting.
Omega: The reason I've asked for all of us to meet today, is that I've been talking around with the majority of you all, and the general consensus is that the unity we had thrived on in the start is having it's fair share of wear and tear. We've been betrayed not just once, but twice. There have been treacherous men performing trecherous actions. Al Envy.
Omega glances over at Dixie who shows a hint of distaste for Omega's tone.
Omega: And Davey Dynamo. These two men who have showed their true faces. They've shown how easy it is to cause a ripple of discord within a group of people with a common goal.
Dixie looks up at Omega, she spoke in a moment of clarity and honesty.
Dixie: And Omega, what dang common goal is that? I just dun understand how y'all can make decisions without me. I look o'er to Reya Serra o'er there, and I can't help but think. One. Two. Three. Four. There're four former members of The Court within United now. I ne'er had a problem with Slater. I have no personal grudges with Rayne or Reya. I dun even know anything 'bout Paxar, but with Reya talkin' bout The Court never dyin' and not findin' out about them joinin' United until the announcement... I jus' started thinkin' maybe that The Court is takin' o'er United. And maybe that this proud Texan's services are no longer required.
Omega: It was my mistake. After your associations with Al Envy, I personally couldn't trust you, Dix. I am not speaking for Kronin, I am not speaking for Matt. But that's where I stood. You were getting kinda close with a man who ended up giving us the shaft, and you were silent about it. I can understand getting upset over that shit, but damn woman! You're Dixie motherfuckin' Clement. The longest reigning Youngblood Champion in New Edge history. You don't need much more of a pep talk than that.
Rayne: Dixie... Reya, Matt, and myself we are not looking to turn this into The Court As far as I'm concerned The Court has run it's course. It was a great time in my career. Had it not happened, I would not have made a good friend in Reya.
Rayne smiles at Reya. The Herald blushes ever so slightly before clearing her throat to speak.
Reya: Nor I you, Rayne. It is my friendship with you as well as the friendships I have with both Ryan and Matthew that drew me to United, as a matter of fact. I am glad that I am a part of United and amongst friends that I know and pray that I get to know further in the future.
The Herald pauses for a moment, looking at each of them in succession with a smile before continuing.
Reya: As it relates to The Court, yes four of the members of United including myself were members of that Hall of Fame group but as of now that group has effectively been disbanded. Yet though it has been disbanded that does not mean that it does not continue to hold a special place in my heart. It has and will always continue to do so. I do truly cherish those times, as I pray I come to cherish the time I spend with all of you as a part of United. United is where I feel that I truly belong...and I can think of no better place that I would rather be than with all of you.
Paxar raises an eyebrow at Reya, questioning her curiously.
Paxar: No better place than here? Don't get me wrong...you guys in United are super awesome, but I wonder what V or that crazy loon Cera would think if they heard you say that, Reya...
Reya frowns slightly at her friend, shaking her head in dismay.
Reya: They have made their choices in terms of who they prefer to be surrounded by...and I have made mine. On that, we stand apart. That is not to say that I will not spend time with them at some point, as I am sure that I will. We are sisters, after all, even if my relationships with them are currently...strained.
Reya lets out a sigh of disappointment as Dixie interjects.
Dixie: Naw listen here, Reya. In case ya din notice, yah sisters have more than a strained relationship with you. After yah match, wasn't it Vanessa who came to the ring. In a dance 'round way of sayin' it, say that neither you, nor Rayne, nor Slater matched up to her? I find it damn amazin' that yah'd have nothin' bad ta say 'bout her.
Paxar: You have to understand...that's just the way Reya is, Dixie. She cares more about her sisters than she even cares about herself I think. You probably wouldn't even be able to get her to say a bad thing about one of them by putting a gun to her head...
Dixie: I’d make a joke ‘bout my six shooter right now, but it’d be bad timin’ with us all tryin’ to be diplomatic and what not.
Kronin: The way I see it, we have a little disarray right, now but the fact is we’re still a team. I never had a question on who had my back or who’s back I have. Whether it’s the Styles Mafia, UnStable, or Phoenix; we all need to communicate more. That would be the first step to dropping the tensions around this group.
Omega points to the empty chair on the otherside of Larry.
Omega: That would have been Scarlet’s chair had she been here tonight with us. Aurora Deadwood is a reminder that we need to stick together and wake up, because who would be next to be picked off, You, Dixie? Kronin? Reya? Rayne? Slater? There’s a lot of people gunning for the World Championship. Hell, Matt’s got his second back to back title defense tonight against Nocturnal.
Slater leans forward in his chair and Rayne winced at the sound of Aurora's name.
Omega: But the point of being here was to air out or grievances, clear the air and start anew. Are you all with me?
Omega places his hand in the center as Rayne, Reya, and Kronin immediately do the same. Larry and Paxar then do the same. Dixie looks onto Rayne, then Reya, then Slater before putting her hand in the center. Slater who’s been quiet, places his World Championship on his lap and then places his hand in the center.
Omega: We shall always be United, despite how many casualities we have. Let’s do this for Scarlet.
Everyone save Omega and Slater gets up and leaves the locker room, who stand up.
Omega: I know you’re not in the best of moods, Matt. But win or lose, you’ve been a solid world champion, it’s not how long you’ve had it. But what you’ve done with it. Just go out there and do us proud. Oh and for good measure, if ya get the chance, drive your knees into Nocturnal’s fucking face.
Slater just simply nods and readjusts his belt on his should before walking out the locker room door.
