After the opening video package, the latest edition of Ignite opens up with a dazzling pyrotechnics display. The crowd cheer and scream as the cameras pan around the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, capturing the atmosphere inside the building and the ecstatic fans that are pumped to witness New Edge Wrestling live in person.
Jill Matthews: Welcome everyone to Ignite 184! It is a cold, blistery night here in Portland, Oregon, but this is a night that is sure to fire you up from the offset! I am Jill Matthews, and as always I am joined by my broadcast partner, Vince Walters!
Vince Walters: You called me your partner! Wow, all those months of hitting on you are starting to pay off!
Jill Matthews: Don't get your hopes up, Vince. You know you don't have a chance with me, so let's leave it at that. But speaking of chances, tonight Blair Buchannan has the chance...
Vince Walters: Valentyne.
Jill Matthews: Blair ... Buchannan-Valentyne ... excuse me ... has the chance to become the NEW World Champion when she faces Ryan Pugh in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match in our Main Event!
Vince Walters: And let me assure you, folks, you are going to witness a new World Champion crowned tonight, because Ryan Pugh is sure as hell too fat to climb a ladder and retrieve the title!
Jill Matthews: Jesse Styles had a plan when he made that match, and I think he had the same mindset you did, that Ryan Pugh is just too big to climb the ladder and get the championship. But that isn't all, ladies and gentleman. We will see a Dog Collar Match between Seth Iser and "The Reaper" Jeremiah Castle, and that is sure to be a violent encounter from the start.
Vince Walters: The war against EVO officially begins tonight, sweet tits, and there will be casualties on the road to World War X! Hell, we might not even have a War Games Match if the Mafia take out all of EVO in the coming weeks!
Jill Matthews: World War X will be the night where Jesse Styles and Ryan Pugh will put their ownership stakes on the line against one another, and whichever team wins, whether it is EVO or the Mafia, one of those two men will take full control of New Edge Wrestling.
Vince Walters: And it's gonna be Jesse Styles, because he's a genius, and geniuses never falter!
Jill Matthews: Also tonight we will have Ricky Cassels taking on Inkt, and get this, Vince ... a Singapore Cane Match between Cera and Hunter Valentyne! Champion versus Champion, and the loser will receive twenty lashes!
Vince Walters: I hope Cera wins, because I don't want to see that fine, fiiiine ass of hers get caned! I'd like to spank it, but...
Jill Matthews: You'd like to do many things to her ass, you pervert.
Vince Walters: At least I'm being honest, and you shouldn't be passing judgement on me after all of the sick things you've done, Miss Bukkake!
Jill Matthews: ... How did you...?
Vince Walters: Research, sweet tits. Pornhub is a great site, isn't it?
Suddenly, the crowd are brought to their feet by the sounds of "Hero (Instrumental Version)" by Skillet playing from the speakers! A few moments pass before Matt Slater appears, causing the crowd to cheer louder than before at the sight of the Silver Knight. Slater is already dressed to compete, wearing his usual ring attire with a zipped-up hooded sweater. He is without his soft neck-brace from the week before, and his eyes are filled with malice as he strolls down the ramp with a purpose, heading towards the ring without acknowledging the crowd that cheer his presence.
Jill Matthews: And it seems we are going to kick off Ignite with Matt Slater, who shocked Seth Iser last week by interrupting the disgraceful funeral he set up to mourn Slater's apparent passing, as it were, after Tension in Texas. But Slater is very much alive, and he is a changed man. He attacked Seth Iser and grabbed a steel chair, but Seth Iser fled the scene, running away from a man that has a more violent identity. Now Slater will not stop until he has exacted his revenge on the man that tried to end his career ... not once, but twice!
Vince Walters: You forgot to mention that Slater attacked an innocent man! He hit the Preacher with a steel chair, and as far as I know that Preacher is still in the hospital! Matt Slater should be locked up for his actions, if you ask me!
Jill Matthews: That Preacher decided to join Seth Iser in the funeral, so he was an associate that Slater took care off! He gave Seth Iser a warning that his time is coming to a close, but it looks like his time may be up!
Slater enters the ring and walks towards Tom Davis, who was set to introduce the first match of the evening. Slater takes the microphone out of the ring announcer's hand and immediately talks into it.
Matt Slater: Cut the music. Shut it off.
Obeying Slater's command, the producer turns Slater's theme music off. The crowd continue to show their support as Slater paces back and forth inside the ring, looking as though he is about to have a war of attrition against a small army.
Matt Slater: Now I have waited ... seven long days ... to get inside this ring again. Throughout those seven days, I have mentally prepared for the future to come ... and throughout those seven days, I have accepted my fate, not only as a competitor ... but as a man ... a man that has only had one person in mind ... Seth ... Iser.
The crowd boo furiously at the mention of Seth Iser's name, and even some fans in the crowd are audibly heard screaming that he should be killed or assassinated.
Vince Walters: I guess the people in Portland don't like Seth Iser that much either.
Jill Matthews: I'll be surprised if you can find anyone outside his immediate family that likes him ... and even his own family is a stretch!
Matt Slater: Last week, Seth Iser thought that he would give a heart-warming, tear-inducing eulogy to the deceased memory of me. Unfortunately, he was under the impression that I was gone for good, and as we all found out ... that was not exactly the case.
Once again the crowd cheer, remembering what took place when Slater returned to ruin Seth Iser's organized funeral.
Matt Slater: When the mask came off in that video message, Seth ... that was not just a mind game. That was a very ... real ... transformation, and you are on the verge of being slain by a Knight that is filled with hatred, and a Knight that is on a quest for brutal vengeance!
Jill Matthews: And he means it, ladies and gentleman.
Vince Walters: That Preacher will never be the same!
Matt Slater: Seth ... you failed to keep me down at Demented Greetings, and you failed to keep me down at Tension in Texas. And as long as I have a breath in my body, you will never ... ever ... EVER ... keep me down for good! But what happened, Seth? What happened? Instead of staying and fighting like a man, instead of remaining in this ring and experiencing, once again, what it feels like to be struck in the head with a steel chair ... you ran ... you ran away...
The crowd boo Seth Iser's cowardice, and even Slater is beginning to sound more agitated the more he remembers last week's festivities.
Matt Slater: You tucked your tail between your legs and you ran away like a coward! You probably went and hid behind Jesse Styles as well ... but that's about to change right now.
Vince Walters: Huh? What's he talking about?
Matt Slater: I know that I have a match against Roger Wright scheduled tonight ... a match that will be contested under No Holds Barred rules no less ... but if there's one thing I want to do more than anything, it is to FINISH WHAT I STARTED LAST WEEK! SO SETH ISER!
The crowd come unglued with cheers as Slater rips off his zipped hoodie, throwing it aside and roaming around the ring like a caged animal waiting to be released.
Matt Slater: I am challenging you right here, RIGHT NOW! Come out here, get in this ring, and we can settle this like men! We can settle this with a fight ... or are you too scared to face me?
The audience in Portland are anticipating this conflict waiting to happen, but a group of fans start a "SETH'S A PUSSY!" chant that increases in volume as it spreads throughout the arena!
Jill Matthews: Matt Slater has challenged Seth Iser to a fight right here, right now! What's going to happen?! What about their matches tonight?!
Vince Walters: I don't know, but Slater is getting WAY ahead of himself! He is walking into a fight he cannot win, and we saw what happened at Tension in Texas! Matt Slater should not even be here! He should be at home nursing his wounds, watching the Mafia kick EVO's ass! Instead, he has to come back, showing us that he's some kind of tough guy, when in reality he is one DDT away from having a broken neck!
Before Slater can lose his temper, he exhales heavily, calming himself down as he waits near the ropes. Suddenly, "Hurt" by Johnny Cash plays from the speakers, resulting in a mixture of cheers and boos from the NEW faithful. Jesse Styles then walks out from the back with a microphone in hand, remaining on the stage as he glares at Slater from afar.
Vince Walters: And here comes the boss to set things right! Jesse Styles is going to put Matt Slater in his place, and I am going to enjoy every second of it!
Jill Matthews: Matt Slater is none too pleased to see Jesse Styles out here instead of Seth Iser, but Slater does appear to be visibly calm despite not getting what he demanded.
Vince Walters: Well what does he expect? He should be happy he gets to continue walking around and not be in a God damn wheelchair! He should be thanking Seth Iser for not crippling him and giving him the freedom to still live a normal life!
Jill Matthews: Oh cut the crap!
Jesse Styles: So you want to have a fight with Seth Iser, huh Matt?
The crowd cheer as Slater nods in agreement, looking determined more than ever to get his revenge and finalize the war he has going on against Seth Iser.
Jesse Styles: Well I've got some bad news for you, Matt. You won't be having a fight with Seth Iser tonight.
The crowd boo instantly and heavily, sharing their displeasure at not getting what they want to see.
Jesse Styles: In fact ... you won't be having a fight with Seth Iser on ANY night.
Vince Walters: This is why he's the boss!
Jill Matthews: I don't understand why though?
Jesse Styles: You see, Matt ... your actions last week were completely uncalled for, so much so that legal measures have been taken to ensure the protection of Seth Iser.
Jill Matthews: What?
Jesse Styles: After what you did to Seth Iser, he has put forward a restraining order against you, and I am here to inform you that, as of this morning, that restraining order has been approved.
Jill Matthews: Oh what the hell...
Vince Walters: Seth Iser was put into serious jeopardy last week, Jill! You saw how crazy Matt Slater was!
Jill Matthews: So Seth Iser spikes Matt Slater on his neck after hitting him with a steel chair, and when Slater gets some kind of revenge, Seth Iser runs off and gets a restraining order?! What a bunch of crap...
Meanwhile, the crowd are chanting "BULLSHIT!" with passion and anger, something that Slater cannot help but acknowledge. He even smirks somewhat, realizing that this is something Seth Iser would have conceived to protect himself in the future.
Jesse Styles: So here is my advice to you, Matt Slater. I suggest you don't touch Seth Iser, unless it is in a scheduled match, because if you lay one finger on him ... then you will be suspended, without pay, indefinitely!
Once again the crowd boo furiously, and Slater's smirk dissipates as he absorbs the reality of the situation.
Jesse Styles: But here is what I will do. Since you're in the mood for a fight right now ... how about I make some changes to tonight's card? How about ... instead of facing Roger Wright later on tonight ... we make that match happen right now?
Instead of being forced to wait for that encounter, the crowd do cheer the change, even if it means that Roger Wright has less time to prepare for his match against Matt Slater.
Jill Matthews: Matt Slater and Roger Wright are going to have their No Holds Barred Match right now?!
Vince Walters: That's what he said!
Jesse Styles: Yeah, that's exactly what we'll do! Get me a referee out here!
After a few seconds, NEW Referee Scott Floss comes jogging out onto the stage and down the ramp, heading towards the ring as Slater remains inside of it.
Jesse Styles: I'm sure you'll have a hell of a fight!
With that final comment directed towards Slater, Jesse Styles walks backstage as Slater waits the arrival of Roger Wright.
Jill Matthews: Matt Slater did not get his fight with Seth Iser, but he is getting his fight with Roger Wright right now! It's No Holds Barred, and it's coming up next!
Vince Walters: Don't go anywhere!
As the camera concentrates on Slater's serious expression, the show goes to an advertisement break.
