Hotel
We fade in at the beginning of this scene with “The Canadian Warrior” Mike Johnson sitting on a chair on top of the roof of a hotel building. He has a chilled bottle of Mike’s Hard Lemonade held in one hand, as he is just looking in front of him watching the sun starting to creep out from over the horizon. It would just be one day before he would be having his debut match in the NEW, against Ian Wright… a man that Mike knew nothing about, nothing regarding his wrestling style, his history. Just… nothing. Mike Johnson continues to stare off in the direction of the rising sun, and takes a moment to bring the bottle up to his lips and take a long drink from it. After licking his lips and setting the bottle down next to one of the chair legs, while the camera is panning around, he leans forward and rubs his hands together to give the camera his attention.
Mike: “Egnite. That’s where I’ll be making my debut into the NEW, for the very first time… that’s where the people backstage will see exactly what I’m capable of doing. That’s where these fans will remember what I can do. My career hasn’t been as glamorous as I had hoped that it would’ve been - as I’ve mentioned to all of you in the past; I don’t have a single title that I can name as my own. I even went from being one of the greatest rookies throughout this industry to just earning a loss, after a loss, after a loss, and it all carries on from there. In some ways; I have turned my career around. Twice. I went from being that success, to being the loser, and hoping to make sure I turn everything back into a success.”
His head and eyes look away from the camera, looking back towards the horizon and seeing the sun still coming up. It caused him to chuckle as he thought of it as a new hope, a new day. Much like how he saw his career in the NEW was.
Mike: “A new opportunity.”
There’s a brief pause at this moment, as he turns his attention back towards the camera.
Mike: “That’s what I see when I think about the contract that I signed with the NEW. I see an opportunity to start anew… I can’t erase my behavior of the past, nor would I even if I had the chance. People learn from their mistakes. It’s exactly what I’ve done, and it’s exactly why I am looking forward… that’s why I see a new opportunity when I come into the NEW. I see a chance to let these people see me in a new light, the light of a new day, and see that I have become better as a person, and better as an athlete. What will my words prove, though? I think we all know that they won’t prove anything. I probably won’t be getting the attention of all of those big shots that have seen me in the past, right off the bat… in fact, I know I won’t.”
He scoffed at the thought of receiving that kind of attention.
Mike: “I’ll start… at the bottom. Gladly. There’s another rookie to these doors… and he’s the one that I’m going to be making my debut against. I’m not going to take anything away from you, Iam. I know that you’re more than capable of bringing everything to that ring, and leaving it all in that ring. Give these fans a show that they will surely remember as they watch us go into battle with each other. Watch us fight each other until there’s nothing left for us to give… and the only thing we can manage to do is cover. It’ll just be a matter of time before we’ll be facing each other, man. I know you’ll make it up there; and I’m making it a promise that I will be up there. We’ll start at the bottom. Give them a match to remember… and then we’ll give them a second one at the top.”
Another pause here, as he leans down to pick up his beverage from the rooftop. He holds it between both of his hands, as he is still looking towards the camera.
Mike: “It’ll be an honor.”
Mike lifted the bottle into the air, giving a salute to his opponent. Several seconds would pass as the camera was starting to pan out, and he would get comfortable in his chair to continue watching the sun. Scene fades.
