The music was pumping and the night was going surprisingly smooth so far for friends Sasha Foote and Matty. Sasha had been in a pretty aggressive mood all night, but this was exactly what she needed. The normally tough talking diva was ready for a relaxing night out before the training for her debut match really got intense the next day.
'The Problem' was dressed in a form fitting pink dress with black heels. Her long blonde hair was straightened to perfection and her make up was self satisfyingly applied.
The pair of friends made their way to VIP after dancing for a bit.
Sasha:I'll be honest Matty, I didn't know you could dance like that. You've got some moves.
Matty:I told you babe. To be completely honest though I'm just tryna show you a good time. You've been hella aggressive all day and I was thinking it was going to be a buzzkill. Proud of you.
Matty smiled at Sasha who nodded her head, knowing she could be a pain in the butt sometimes. Matty took a sip from his drink.
Sasha:You better not drink too much tonight. I told you I'd protect you but I'll be damned if I clean up after you if you throw your guts up all over the place.
Matty chuckled and shook his head.
Matty:You're kidding right? I'm a pro at this whole drinking and gettin' shit done thing. Tomorrow is a big day for you and I won't ruin it. The trip to Pennsylvania to workout with Ruthann, the meeting with that dude you were goin at it with on twitter earlier. By the way, why are you meeting up with this guy for business if he pushed your buttons so much?
Sasha glanced out at the dancefloor, having the urge to get back out there but holding it back for a minute to continue the conversation.
Sasha:Keyword is business, Matty. The guy was a jerk on twitter, but he had a point. I was jumping to conclusions and getting worked up over words on a screen. If he's as good as he says he is, the chance for him to represent me could be a good thing.
Sasha paused to collect her thoughts.
Sasha:Its like this, the main reason for getting involved in wrestling was to finally have some competition. I wasn't getting that in boxing and kickboxing. Those girls couldn't even knock me down.
Sasha giggled and playfully scooted closer to Matty in the VIP booth, putting her hand on his knee and rubbing it.
Sasha:The men in wrestling? They're going to present a challenge to me, and that's exactly what I want, but at the end of the day its still a business. This is what I'm going to feed myself with. It's going to pay the bills. So, maybe someone like Harvey Sullivan could help me. He could get me a better long term deal with New Edge potentially, who knows?
Sasha scanned the club again, the music catching her attention.
Matty:You wanna dance again, don't you?
Sasha nodded excitedly, her eyes lighting up as the strobe lights flashed around them.
Sasha:I don't go out much. I've always been more of a homebody because truthfully people annoy me most of the time. But this place has been pretty cool. The people aren't bumping into me, the DJ is good, and I'm with a pretty handsome man who's gotten me into a much better mood. Lets dance.
Sasha stood up carefully in her heels, and pulled at Matty who laughed and shook his head.
Matty:Nah babe. You go out there and do your thing. I'm gonna sit here and sip on this drink a lil' and catch my breath. You had me all over the place out there earlier. I'll join ya in a few. Cool?
Sasha:Doesn't seem like I have a choice, does it?
Sasha rolled her eyes, letting go of Matty's hand. She made her way out of VIP and headed back to the dancefloor. It had gotten more condensed as more people had filed in as the pair were in VIP. She could feel herself getting a little anxious being around so many people but she tried to put it in the back of her mind as she began dancing alone on the dancefloor.
Halfway through the song she felt someone bump her as they tried to walk past. Sasha immediately turned around and grabbed the man by his shirt, startling the club-goer.
Club-Goer:Whoa, chill girl. Damn it was an accident.
Sasha's face grew red with anger staring at the mid 20's Caucasian male in her grip. She scanned his tattoed arms and then turned her attention to his stubbly face. She took a deep breath and released her grip on his shirt.
Sasha:You should be more careful. Not everyone here wants to deal with drunk idiots bumping into them.
Club-Goer:Yeah and maybe you should lighten up bitch.
Sasha looks back up to VIP and see's Matty vibing to the music as she looks back at the man in front of her.
Club-Goer:We're all out here trying to have a good time and its bitches like you with a stick up their ass stopping us. Its all good.
Sasha:No, its not all good. You think just because you're a man that you can bump into me or anyone else and get away with it, THATisn't cool.
Sasha confidently pumped her chest out as she was talking.
Sasha:Try it again and I'll make you regret it.
The surrounding people weren't paying the two arguing any mind as the music was drowning out the confrontation to everyone else. The man wasn't about to allow Sasha to embarrass him though regardless of who was or wasn't watching. He laughed and pushed Sasha, sending her stumbling backwards into the woman dancing behind her.
Sasha caught herself on the woman and shook her head, reaching down and taking off her heels one by one.
Sasha:You really shouldn't have done that. I tried warning you.
Sasha quickly kicked the man in the stomach causing him to bend over in pain. Almost in one quick motion she spun around and hit a kick to his cheek sending him to the ground, unconscious. A crowd had now gathered around them and Matty took notice, rushing from VIP over to them. He broke through the crowd and grabbed Sasha by the wrist.
Matty:What the hell just happened? I asked you to PLEASE not let anything crazy happen tonight.
Sasha had a smirk over her face as she leaned down and picked up her heels, placing them back on.
Sasha:I didn't start it. You can ask anyone. That guy decided to try me and I laid him out. I warned him.
Matty drug Sasha away from the crowd as more people were approaching to check on the unconscious man. Before they could even get thrown out of the club, Matty pulled her out the main entrance. The pair quickly made the trek to the rental car Sasha had picked up when she first arrived in Chicago. They sit in the car, and before Sasha can start it, Matty begins shouting at her.
Matty:I don't care who started it. You came out tonight in a mood and I asked you to watch it. All I wanted was to have a fun night. Jesse went out of his way to get us VIP access, and before you even have your first match, this happens. Do you know what kind of reputation you're creating for yourself? I'm tryna look out for you.
Sasha:Do you really think I care?
Sasha shot back verbally, her head turning towards Matty. The diva had tears in her eyes, out of anger.
Sasha:When I'm out, trying to enjoy myself, I'm not letting some drunk idiot pick a fight with me and then backing down. He wanted a fight, and he got one. If you have a problem with it, I can drop you off at your hotel and just go home.
Matty:Probably a good idea. This shit is crazy. You have to learn to chill.
Sasha:And I was 'chill' until he decided to try and show off in front of his friends. I'm not letting anyone embarrass me Matty. Man, woman, both at the same time. That's not who I am. You're either going to like me for who I am, or hate me for it. I don't have time to be going back and forth with someone who's supposed to have my back. This night is over.
As Matty went to open his mouth, Sasha reached over and placed her hand over it.
Sasha:Just...don't. I'm taking you back to your room and we'll figure out later if you're coming with me to Pennsylvania tomorrow.
Sasha pulled out of the parking lot to Club Rain in screeching fashion and sped off into the night.
THE PROMO
Since the beginning of time it was incorrectly stated as fact that men were superior to women in combat. Men are bigger, stronger, so that automatically made them the favorite in any intergender sporting contest or fight. I'm here to prove that as an assumption, not a fact.
The fact is, my entire life I've been a level above all of the girls in any athletic competition and frankly, I'm bored of competing against them. It no longer presents a challenge. After an undefeated career in kickboxing and boxing, a career in which I was never knocked down might I add, I've decided to make the jump to professional wrestling. A sport which already has a large number of females proving on a daily basis that we are more than capable of not only hanging with the men, but a lot of the times, we're better!
In my first match ever, I get to go one on one with Hall of Famer Al Envy, the current TA champion. Regardless of the words exchanged between us on twitter, or on the social media section on the New Edge website, I assure you I have respect for Al Envy. You don't become a hall of famer by just showing up. You have to earn an honor like that, and for that alone, he's earned my respect.
But make no mistakes about it, I'm going to take his pride in our match at Ignition 201. I saw something in your eyes when we came face to face at the last show Al. You saw that I wasn't backing down when you stepped up to me and it shocked you. You expected me to cower to you in person, didn't you? I'll never cower to you or anyone else. That's not how I was raised. I was raised to defend myself at all times.
This match at Ignition means a lot for both of us. For me, this is my opportunity to show the world that I'm more than just talk. I get to prove that I'm legit. I get to stand up for women around the world who might want to compete with men but are scared to. This is my chance to show them that we can do this, and that not only can we compete but we can win.
And Al has a lot at stake too. If he loses to me, he's still a champion but his pride will take a hit. I mean afterall, how can a hall of famer lose to a rookie in her very first match? I know you're going to be coming at me with everything you have and that you won't be taking it easy on me Al, and that's exactly what I want. I don't want you to hold back at all, I want you at your best.
But, I don't need to stress anymore how important this is for both of us. We both know what's at stake. Lets talk about the match itself.
The contrast in style is going to make it exciting for the fans. With my background in kickboxing and boxing, I can end the fight with one strike if I connect. That's an advantage for me. You have to try and wrestle me to the mat and control the pace, but if you go for a takedown and I catch you with a foot to the face, its over.
What makes it even more interesting is I know you've had a broken elbow in the past. I don't even have to knock you out. I could kick you in the arm, punch you in it and there's a realistic possibility that you'll be forced to scream out that you quit after I do. If you think I'm exaggerating my striking power, watch some of my old fights. Or you can ask Chris Styles if he's awake yet.
You call yourself the 'Show Stealer', you want to be the best, well you might have been the best but that all changes at Ignition 201. I respect your legacy and what you've helped build here, but there's a new face ready to take over New Edge, and that's me, Sasha Foote.
I'll give you credit for accepting the match against someone new with a 'big mouth' like me, but I can promise it's going to turn out to be the biggest mistake you've made in your career.
At Ignition, I leave my Foote Print on professional wrestling, courtesy of Al Envy.
See you in a little over a week sweetheart.
Hugs and kisses, punches and kicks-bitch.
