It's been almost three years since Andre Holmes has returned to Professional Wrestling. After Midwest Extreme Wrestling went bankrupt in 2012, it was uncertain that if he would continue to do what he loved the most. Sadly, he decided to live a peaceful life and follow a different path that would lead him to a happier life. Get married, have kids, grow old and die peacefully. It didn't happen as he thought he would. Living in his hometown of Houston, Texas was growing weary. Working as a fitness coach, teaching mixed martial arts, and even training others in professional wrestling wasn't going to cut it. The bills were paid, and profits were made but happiness wasn't the desired result. Inside of him, the urge to return to wrestling was growing stronger, and stronger until he couldn't bear it no more.
The thirst always wins...
Saturday afternoon, and training camp couldn't be busier than before. The students were grasping the art of chain wrestling. The old lock-ups, headlocks, hammerlocks, scissors hold, and other grappling moves they could learn. The gym was pretty large overall, and had multiple rooms. Weight lifting, swimming pool, massage centre, infirmary, showers, and any other necessities a place needed. Andre was standing in the middle of the ring dressed in mostly gym wear. He came around and always liked to wear a simple grey shirt, and black tights that ended down to his knees with green Reebok signature running shoes. He watched carefully how a student who was just twenty year old disrespecting another student after he messed up and botched a suplex that hurt his back. He violently pushed the other student down, and Andre stepped in to prevent a potential brawl from happening.
"Hey! Watch it!" he yelled, and the student pushed him back. Others turned their eyes to view if Andre would lash out. One thing for sure is that he always had a bad temper, and never gave a flying crap for anyone who did him wrong in the past or present. "What are you stupid?!"
"I don't understand why I have to be listening to an old timer like you."
"Excuse me?" Andre perked up an eyebrow.
"You heard me, old timer." The student walked around the ring, and addressed the others surrounding the ring. "Are you guys kidding me? We're taking lessons from a man who was relevant THREE years ago! You barely don't even know anything outside your own time. I mean look at me, and look at you. I can run circles around you old man!" Andre got pushed by the student, and by the look in his eyes, the world was targeted to be the attack of a raging entity. His breathing increased, and his shoulders slouged up and down. He closed the distance, and looked the kid right in his face.
"Go hit the showers.."
"Or what?"
The kid pushed Andre a few steps, and Andre sidestepped to thrust a foot into the student's jaw. The student's head whiplashed backwards, and he fell to the canvas completely knocked out from the kick. Others covered their mouths with their eyes widened after seeing that Andre still had it in him. He left the ring, and marched into his office as head training. The door was slammed shut, and the sound echoed throughout the hall. Knocking was heard, and Andre yelled. "Not now!"
"It's me, Ashley."
"Not now, Ashley."
"Please.."
He sighed. "Come in." Ashley was a teenage student who showed passion, and fire in this career choice more than the other students. She opened the door, and closed it afterwards to take a seat before Andre. She understood how he felt about being away from the ring, and she was always more understanding than the other students.
"I should apologize for my actions."
"Don't. That kid deserved it anyways. He never learned how to keep his mouth shut, and I'm glad you took him down before I did." She chuckled, although it didn't warm his heart. "What's really wrong Andre?"
"I'm tired of coming here everyday, and not being where I belong. It's like being surrounded by a bunch of kinder gardeners who can't even throw a jab right."
"Thanks.." She said with a manner that shows she is not amused.
"Obviously not you. I miss WEF, and MEW because I used to step into the one place where I can be free from my problems, and also free to do what I love the most."
"Yeah but you can't sit here and blame yourself for a decision you made. You chose this, remember?"
"And I regret it everyday."
Andre checked his e-mail, and found what could be a miracle. It was a email from a wrestling promotion he never even heard of. New Edge Wrestling. It felt like God had heard his cries for his dreams, and given him a second chance. He carefully read through the email, his eyes glued to the monitor. Ashley noticed this weird behavior, and tried to sneak a peek at what he was looking at. "Umm, what are you reading?"
"I'm back."
"You're what?"
"I'm back!"
"I'm confused. Should I get the nurse?"
"No, listen to this! New Edge Wrestling would formally invite you to a contract signing at our Headquarters to be apart of our wrestling roster!" He said with excitement. Ashley was more than happy for him because he desperately needed a second chance. Andre stood up, and marched out of his office with Ashley trailing behind him, concerned about what he was going to do next. This was a big chance for him to be back into his holy ground, and nothing would keep him from it. He returned to the training facility of the camp, and stood inside the ring surrounded by his mentors. The grin on his face went from ear to ear, and the students looked at him crazily.
"I have good news, and bad news everyone. As of now, I will be leaving as Head Trainer." said Andre. It came as a shock to the rest of the students. This was unexpected as Andre has been with them for so many years. Some were happy, others were sad but the one that was heart broken was Ashley. No hesitation was made. He got all the things he needed from his office, and left the gym to prepare for his plane to New Edge Wrestling.
A new journey..
Saturday morning, and it was eleven o' clock. The plane was scheduled to take off at one in the afternoon, and the Houston Airport was busy. Pulling up in the cab, Andre exited from the car dressed in all black in semi-casual attire. It was time to take the big step back into the ring, and what better time to do so now that he is in his physical prime. After receiving his bags, he proceeded forward to the entrance with his plane ticket, and passport in hand.
"Andre!" yelled Ashley running from her parked car. He turned around, and was surprised to see his shining student approach him.
"What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to wish you good luck." Her blue eyes stared up to his, and she was very happy yet sad. "I'm going to miss you a lot."
"Ashley."
"Please. Remember me, alright?"
"Are you kidding me? You're my number one student. I'll always remember you." She hugged him, her arms clenched tightly around his body. She couldn't hold back any longer, and Ashley planted her lips against Andre's. After a few minutes, she stepped back with her cheeks turning red, and Andre trying to keep his cool.
"Wow, what was that?"
"My first kiss, now go. You're gonna be late." He nodded, and turned around. "Andre!" He stopped, and looked back at Ashley for the final time. "Good luck." The words of a great friend, and he entered into the airport because New Edge Wrestling was his new home.
