"God's Gift" Jeremiah Vastrix walks through hospital corridors. He warmly greets Doctors, Nurses, and Orderlies as he passes them.
This isn't the thing that he had planned on doing today, but with recent events it seemed like the right thing to do.
Jeremiah waits in the elevator as it rises to the floor he's seeking. As he rises, he feels the weight of his upcoming choices bear down upon him. The seriousness of the situation stealing the smile from his eyes, though he keeps the professional smile in place.
As he arrives to his floor, he walks up to the nurse's station. The nurses greet him with familiarity, calling him by name. Jeremiah kisses each of them on the cheek with a hug.
Vastrix: "How's my patient doing?"
Nurse: "He responded well to the surgery. The Doctor says that once he recovers from this one, we might be looking at two to three more surgeries to get him looking normal again. It can be done though. He still isn't awake. The Doctor thinks that he might be all fixed up before he comes out of his coma."
Jeremiah nods. He reaches into a pocket and sets down prepaid Warhammer Debit Cards on the table. One for each of the nurses.
Vastrix: "That's all we could hope for. I'm going to go sit with him for a bit and talk to the camera. That kind of thing. I hope you can continue to give him the kind of Platinum treatment that he deserves for the kind of favor that he performed for me."
The Nurse beams as she reads the LED read out on the back of high tech card.
Nurse: "Of course! We will continue to give your patient the DIAMOND service that he deserves!"
Jeremiah chuckles, heading back to the room. Of course they would. They would ride the patient like high priced whores if he asked them to for the several ten thousand dollars that he just gave each of them.
He gets to the room and sits down by the bed. The patient in the room is heavily bandaged, though the bandages on his head are covered by a mask.
The Mask of Kaupena Yoon.
Though if you look at it. Really look at the mask. You can see that the colors are off by just a bit.
Vastrix: "How are you doing, Joe? I would say that I'm sorry that you had to go through this. I'd like to say that the what you went through was unexpected. It was. I know you can't really hear me, but you'll hear it all again when this gets played back."
Jeremiah opens a drawer at the bedside table, pulling out yet another mask. It looks just like the one on the man in the bed. It looks just like the mask worn by Kaupena Yoon on the most recent Ignite...
Vastrix: "Do you recognize the mask, Valora? It's the same mask that you seized as a trophy. It's the same knock off mask that you can buy outside of the arena in the parking lot for a buck fifty."
Jeremiah puts the mask away with a laugh.
Vastrix: "Did you really think that you almost killed Yoon for having your name in your mouth one too many times? You can't get a lie past me, bitch. You did this at the behest of Jesse Styles. You did it for him, not yourself. Just like Al Envy did it for Jesse. Just like Matt Haven did it so that he didn't lose his job. He thought that he was off for the week, but was blackmailed to come in."
"I thought that this was going to happen. You know I joined this company when it was sold to me that a more relaxed schedule was coming. And it was...until after the very first pay-per-view. Then, the shit hit the fan. Didn't it? The Ignite was brought back to the air and the high tension was brought back. Yoon knew that Matt Haven thought that he had the week off and was going to stay home. He too was threatened and so he was going to come. I knew the change in the air and he knew the change too. I told him to stay home in Hawaii and hired a stunt double. I just didn't expect you to be such a mercenary bitch and try to kill the man. So, I sit here while he's being nursed to health and being rebuilt. It's the least I could do for him."
"Now that brings me to my upcoming match against the lovely Elizabeth Devereaux in a Terror Dome qualifier and my being drafted into Kronin's brand, Lights Out."
"I refuse to participate. I will go down to the ring with Elizabeth Devereaux, but I will not fight her. I will submit willingly to the vixen. I will then boycott Lights Out. I will do nothing until Kaupena Yoon is given a formal apology from Jesse Styles for his terminal stupidity and an offer to be rehired to join me at Lights Out. Then and only then, will I consider doing anything for this company."
"I'd say withhold my pay, but I do this shit for free. Kronin, you're a part of management now. You know what happened was wrong just as much as I do. If you had any sense of what was right and any real power in this company, you would help in this effort. You would help pull the teeth from Jesse Styles and bleed out the returned tension to this company before it becomes the poison that it was before."
"Now if you'll excuse me."
Jeremiah reaches into the table behind him and pulls out a book.
The Princess Bride.
Jeremiah pats Joe on the arm with a concerned smile.
Vastrix: "They say to keep speaking to a comatose person can help bring them back from where they're dreaming. So, we will begin with the Princess Bride. Then, if we need to, we can begin the Horus Heresy series."
