The scene opens up backstage in Blair Buchannan-Valentyne’’s empty dressing room. The door to it swings open and in walks a furious Blair, dressed in white mini robe and hot pink high heeled stilettos with straps that spiralled all the way up to her thighs. Following Blair into the dressed room was her mother and manager, Denise. The two seemed to be in a heated argument.
Blair: I don’t know why you don’t just listen to me! It’s too soon to call things off with him. If we do that then everything i’ve done for the past couple of months would have been a waste of time! I’m telling you, it’s a stupid idea.”
Denise: “..and i’m telling you that I know what’s going on! You’re falling for that stupid Styles kid and it’s clouding your judgement. It’s not gonna end well. We should just get out while we can. We don’t even need his money anymore what’s wrong with you?!”
Blair: “What’s wrong with me is i’m sick of you acting like you own me. You’re my manager and my mother and you’re barely doing a good job at either of those things so maybe you need to just back off!”
Denise: “How dare you...you would be nothing without me, or have you forgotten everything i’ve done for you...everything i’ve sacrificed to get you to where you are!”
Blair: “Oh bullshit, everything you do is for yourself and you know it so just drop the act already!”
Denise: “You know what...I don’t need this! I’m supposed to go meet Simon anyway. Do what you want Blair, but i’m telling you...the moment Chris Styles finds out that the only reason you gave him the time of day is because you knew he had a secret share in New Edge Wrestling….well...he’s going to drop you like a bad habit and then i’ll be right here to tell you I told you so!”
Blair: “Get out! Just get the fuck out of my dressing room you witch!”
Blair picks up a nearby vase filled with roses and hurls them nearby where Denise is standing. The vase misses Denise and shatters.
Denise: “I’m already gone, you selfish little brat!”
With that, Denise turns and storms out of the dressing room. On her way out, she brushes past Chris Styles who was on his way in. Blair wipes away an angry tear before composing herself.
Blair: “Oh, Chris...how long have you been standing there.”
Chris: “Only a second...is everything OK?”
Blair: “No not really...I had a fight with my mom.”
Chris: “What is it this time?”
Blair: “She doesn’t think that I should be dating you…”
Chris: “Who cares what she thinks.”
Blair: “But she has a point and to be honest...I think she may be right.”
Chris: “What are you talking about?”
Blair: “Well..listen...you have your second chance and your star is on the rise here in NEW and you’re finally starting to get the respect you deserve...I have a tainted image here and you don’t need somebody like me holding you down.”
Chris: “The only way you could hold me down is if we’re playing rough in bed and even then it’s because I let you. You’re just paranoid...you don’t hold me down, you lift me up. I think we lift each other up.”
Blair: “I know...but...my mom…”
Chris: “But your mom, nothing. You gonna let her run your life forever? What about what you want? Can you honestly say that you don’t think we got something real going on between us?”
Blair stood there, silent for a moment before shaking her head causing Chris to smile a little.
Chris: “Yeah I didn’t think so. Get all of that craziness about breaking up out of your head. If I thought you were bad for me, I wouldn’t be with you. I have a mind of my own you know...and so do you..I just think you let your mom convince you otherwise.”
Blair: “You know...I think you’re right.”
Chris: “Of course i’m right. So now come with me and lets see if we can find something to snack on. I know how you get when you’re hungry..that’s probably the reason for all this crazy talk.”
Blair laughed softly as Chris took her hand, leading her toward the exit of the dressing room.
Blair: “Okay...but wait...Chris...there’s something I have to tell you.”
Chris: “Shhhh….first food...then talk. Come on babe…”
With that, Chris led Blair out of the dressing room as the scene faded to a close.
