Chaos Is the New Calm

Chaos is the new calm
violence the new balm
to be spread on lips
unused to a kiss.
Left is the new right
as I brace for a fight
with a man who stands
on his remaining hand.
Jinx’s Journal:
Friday-September 25, 2015
All is quiet backstage for once. NEW personnel are moving about their duties with the usual efficiency that we've come to expect from them. The talent is keeping things running smoothly. The fans are slowly piling into the arena. And every single person has at least one eye on the clock, counting down the minutes until showtime. Welcome to the average day inside the inner-workings of the NEW. Deep within the lowest levels of the arena, more amusingly referred to as "the bowels of the building", two figures sit quietly amongst the steam and darkness. A man and a woman sit quietly amidst the damp and dirty surroundings, feeling rather at-home with themselves. Their choice is not opposed by anyone who knows them... who knows what they're capable of. These two figures are Jinx and her handler, and now manager Jester the clown. Jester stands by, his hands calmly rubbing against each other, while Jinx hunches down like a monkey on a steel folding chair.
"In this life, there are two kinds of people: those who willfully sin, and those who sin by nature. Make no mistake, all humans are sinners. Even the Christian doctrine tells you that you are born into it. The Hindu doctrine tells you that you cannot move on from this world without paying the price for it. I must admit that I find this all most amusing. Why we sin is not so important as the method in which we do. Some of the best intentions have been ignored due to the overwhelming reality of the horrors they brought upon the world. The London subway... Oklahoma City... New York... Guantanamo Bay... a trifle compared to the true darkness lurking within the hearts of man. We all have our reasons, do we not? Of course we do. However, what of those who sin out of nature? What reason do they have for doing what they do? what excuse do they have to fall back upon as a last-ditch effort to spare themselves the consequences of their actions? Those individuals who have the capacity for evil written into the very code of their existence like numbers into a computer. You could argue that we all share a capacity for evil, but that would be delusionary thinking at best... how many others have you seen with the capacity to do what Jinx has done? How many others have you seen with the nerve to stand before the world after doing what Scarlet has done? Henh. Spare me your self-righteousness. I'll have no part of it. What about you, Jinx? Do you have any... taste... for the self-righteous?"
Jinx's attention shifts over to Jester for a moment, as she chews away randomly at something she found. As her head turns, it reveals it to be a strand of her blond hair, stuffed firmly within her mouth as she gnaws away at it. She returns the Jester's stare for a moment, shakes her head, then turns her attention back to nothingness as she continues to chew on her own hair. Jester smirks.
"The personal vendetta between Al Envy and Scarlet is amusing at best. I have no vested interest in the outcome of their little spat. In all honesty, it seems to be little more than bad comedy. They both has been focusing on each other, and choose to let go of all the... unnecessary baggage clouding their minds. Take Jinx here for an example. She cares little for what the masses cheering her on may think. She cares not for what the people backstage and in the locker room think or say about her. And soon, she will something that everyone in NEW desires... the NEW Trans-Atlantic Championship. The championship she will win by defeating you, Scarlet. By making you scream in agony... by making you admit to the whole world that you were unable to take any more. And yet here you are for yet another week, posturing and playing to the crowd. they won't help you, Scarlet. They won't help you at all."
He places his hands behind his back and begins to walk toward Jinx. As the man passes by, Jinx eyes lift to watch him. Bearing yet another design upon her face, the black and white markings give Jinx a completely different, yet all to terrifying look. Even still, she manages to find humor in some random thought, a stray image fleeting through the vast darkness within her mind. She begins to chuckle lightly, as her hand lifts to grab a handful of her greasy locks, and calmly rip them from her scalp. She then stuffs the wad into his mouth and continues chewing. The man looks back at Jinx, and even manages to spare a chuckle himself.
"Scarlet you need to learn about how much pain Jinx is capable of inflicting upon you at a moment's whim. You need to learn why he is the most feared woman in the NEW today... why even other champions go out of their way to avoid her. You need to learn that as cliched as it sounds, there's no stopping what can't be stopped, and no killing what refuses... to die. And for all the anger you may have deep down inside of you, it will do you little good"
".... Jinx will be champion... TA champion..."
"Yes, Jinx will be champion... to fight fire with fire, and to climb the ladder at Justice Seven to claim what is rightfully hers and no one else's. So many people hate her, because she is willing to embrace the darkness within her own soul, to wield it... use it... forge it within the fires of her hate and put it to bear against those who stands against her... those who keeps her from being happy. And trust me, Jinx is very, very happy. Each week, a new challenge lies before him. Each week, a new opportunity to punish someone, to take another bite out of that ideal known as the perfect world. The people admire you, Scarlet, just because you are the bosses wife, and that you hide behind your husband. Jinx only hides behind herself. Jinx only hides behind her painted face in which the world shall come to know it's true purpose in time. Its purpose... is chaos."
".... chaos..."
Jester turned his head to look back at Jinx, who stepped down off the chair, and stood up. She returned the Jester’s unblinking stare for what seemed like a small eternity, before turning her focus over to the filth-covered wall. It wore a layer of ugly brown paint, and was made of old cement blocks. Jinx pressed the side of her face against the blocks, feeling the coldness of their touch. She then drew her head back, and slammed it one solid time against the blocks, resulting in a wet thud. She held her skull in place for a moment, before slowly drawing back from the wall, revealing a splash of crimson against the surface. The dark stain ran down towards the floor, racing the other droplets as they painted their evil silhouette across the wall like some pain-soaked ink blot from hell. Jinx then looked back at Jester with a smirk, as the reddish-black blood ran down the side of her face and neck.
"Justice Seven is going to be something of a journey. Jinx will share it with Scarlet. Justice will be a journey into the darkest pits of your own soul. Jinx shall be your guide. You look at this on the wall, and you see nothing more than a bloodstain from a demented freak. I see chaos in practice. I see human nature in its simplest design. You want proof that chaos is the natural order of things? Look at the blood... the writing is most literally on the wall. It could have done anything, formed any pattern, fallen to the floor at any rate of speed or angle. Chaos. It is magnificent. Why try to interfere with something so beautiful by bringing an assumed order to it? This is a lesson that even the Scarlet has yet to learn, but she will. You all in NEW will. You will each question yourselves, you will each look into the bottom of your own soul, and deep down inside, you will want the madness to stop. But it won't. Not so long as Jinx takes pleasure from it. Not so long as he can find amusement... peace... within the suffering and the pain. Don't try to fight it. Don't try to reason with it. Don't try to cling to useless morals and unnecessary values of a decadent past. They're pointless. Descend into darkness. Lose yourself in the murkiness of your own madness and know that this is how the world was meant to be."
"... chaos..."
Jester moved closer to the wall, running his finger through the blood trails, then pulling his hand back. He ran his fingers together, watching the fluid carefully.
"A man once said it's better to be first in hell than to be second in heaven. Such logic is necessary for the natural order of the world. There can be no light without the darkness. No good without evil. No sight without blindness. For every positive, there must be a negative. There's no fighting it, so why lie to yourselves? Jinx embraced that which she is, and because of that, she has been able to destroy all those who would challenge to take what is hers. Scarlet has felt the wrath of Jinx's hatred at Ignite, so she shall again. Don't fight it, your resistance is a futile effort to say the least. And in the end, when all has come to a silent stop..."
Jester's face slowly creeps into a grin, as his voice lowers to a dry whisper.
"... chaos is the new calm."
The man then leaves the area, as the camera centers on Jinx' face. She begins to laugh, quietly at first, but slowly gaining momentum and volume. Within moments, she cackles like a wild beast, drunk off of her own torturous nature, as the camera draws closer and closer, until the darkness within his eyes blots out the entire screen, leaving you with nothing but blackness and laughter.
Fetid harbor harbor me
until someone is free
to drive me away
from what happened today.
Don’t strand me standing here.
If you leave, leave beer.
