Entrance Description:
A-A-ADRENALIZE ME
As the heavy beat of In This Moment's 'Adrenalize' hits, the lights dim down and leave the stage bathed in an eerie red glow and fog begins rolling over the stage. The NEWTron simultaneously flickers to life as the lyrics come up along with the banging sounds of In This Moment. Emerging from the back, The Crimson Queen cuts a path through the fog and takes center stage.
She sports intricate rows of Nordic style braids that tie her platinum hair back, and dark eyeliner which is applied almost like warpaint, accentuates her fierce look. Her inky black full length tights have silver trim down the side of the legs, and black wrestling boots blend into even darker knee pads. The outfit is rounded off with a strappy black top and her boot pads are emblazoned down the front with silver lettering; one boot reading 'Victory' and the other 'Valhalla'.
Wrestling Style: High Impact/Sloppy/Unpredictable/Reckless
NOTE: Sahara should be shown botching her high flying move-set from time to time. This move-set was specifically designed to counter the potential size difference between her and her opponents, literally transforming her body into a 180 pound projectile weapon. Because of this reckless style, she will sometimes take risks that result in missed or messed up moves.
Basic Moves: Sahara has a very limited moveset, in that she was trained by those that believe mastering a few moves the crowd can anticipate is a better strategy than mastering none.
[*]Various dropkicks, kicks, roundhouses/front kick/sweet chin music, etc. (favors kicks over punches and tries to avoid getting tied up in close combat)
[*]She will often flip her hair back before lining up an opponent for a move, giving the crowd the time to see it coming
[*]Exploder Suplex (only to be used on opponents she can actually lift)
[*]Frog Splash
[*]Shining Wizard
[*]Float Over DDT[/ul]
Signature Moves(s):
Finishing Moves:
Past Accolades:
EWA World Heavyweight Champion
EWA World Tag-Team Champion
EWA Combat Champion [2x]
Biography:
Sahara, real name Lauren MacKay-Mirra, was born into a wrestling family, living and breathing the industry throughout her life. Her family owned a small promotion that peaked in the late 1990’s during the height of the "wrestling wars", when larger promotions began to move in and take over the industry. Throughout her childhood, Lauren learned the in's and out’s of wrestling, meeting many stars along the way.
Almost anyone involved in wrestling should have heard of her, whether good or bad, rumor or not.
After her entry into the wrestling world as a "on-air talent", Sahara found power in her family name as well as her over the top good looks. While she encountered early success, she inevitably ran into the glass ceiling which was much more prevalent at the time for women wrestlers. The idea of a woman title contender, let alone a champion wasn’t a widely accepted idea in the 1990’s, and soon after, she turned her attention to finding success in other ways. While she thought she could never be a champion herself, she figured she could create one. Shortly thereafter, she began manipulating her boyfriend (who later became her husband), Marcus Mirage, into what would become a memorable world title reign through a series of political and otherwise underhanded moves that propelled him to the top of the card. In her mind, it didn't matter how they got there, just that they did it together.
Sahara is cited by many as the driving force behind the cunning nature of now former husband at that time. Early in their careers, she’d purposefully put herself in precarious situations, often at the risk of taking huge bumps in order to kickstart his thirst for revenge. She simply viewed herself as the motivation he lacked.
While their success was gratifying, Sahara became increasingly disillusioned by the emergence of the “bra-and-panties” era in the late 1990’s that turned women wrestlers into a sideshow act for adolescents.
Shortly after, Sahara decided to leave the wrestling scene, and without warning to anyone, she simply … disappeared.
It wasn't until 15 years later, on April 20th, 2016, that Sahara unexpectedly returned in an officially sanctioned EWA series entitled, “All Bad Things”. Using her industry connections, namely her now ex-husband Marcus Mirage who was a contracted EWA Warrior at the time, Sahara manipulated her way into a tryout, which was granted via a combination of nepotism and her astounding look.
Upon her return to in-ring action she was met with a harsh reality check. After a series of demoralizing losses during the ensuing months that followed, she was given an ultimatum. Booked in an unwinnable match against a former world champion, it was made clear to Sahara that if she did not make an impact, her EWA "tryout" contract would be terminated. Desperate to save her career, Sahara found herself in a position where the limits of what she’d be willing to do in order to win no longer existed. Seizing on this opportunity, a nefarious group of individuals within the EWA took Sahara in and unleashed her inner monster.
A reimagined Sahara soon emerged and made the impact EWA management had requested by joining a faction called The Fallout and inciting what became known as the “Tokyo Vampire Incident”. During a show in Tokyo, Japan, a bloody sequence of "on-air" events instantly transformed her into something of a monster when she viciously bit into her opponents throat, creating a memorable visual the fans would not soon forget. It was a move undeniably influenced by her Fallout stablemates.
On August 8th, 2016, at Live from Tokyo, Sahara -- now known as the Crimson Queen -- had finally arrived.
Though she left almost nothing but pain and misery in her wake throughout her much decorated EWA run, she did achieve her childhood dream when she became the EWA World Heavyweight Champion. But as with everything, all good things must come to an end. In early 2018, the EWA closed its doors due to various legal circumstances and Sahara once again found herself on the outside looking in to the wrestling industry. Though unhappy it came to an end, her dream was fulfilled, and she decided it was time to walk away.
In the time that followed the EWA’s closing, Sahara turned her attention to Hollywood, where she somehow landed a role in Netflix series known as ‘Darkness and Light’ (she believes one of the casting directors likely saw her Tokyo Vampire wrestling scene), which was a supernatural based show with a gratuitously adult/gory spin, where she played a vampire known as Serena Black. Unlike most shows of this genre, which tend to run on the more family-friendly CW network, the show was largely panned for it’s “completely unnecessary gore and sex”, even though her performance as the vampire Black was mostly praised. Though short lived, the show only lasted two seasons, but garnered quite a cult following.
Without wrestling, and without a show on Netflix, Sahara quickly became bored, and as they say…
Never say never.
