Rylee: Why do you people like these creatures?? They're solitary animals that only tolerate humans because we feed them, that's a fact. And, far too much hair!!
Priscilla laughed, softly at first, watching this version of Ryleigh chase away a kitten. She leaned down to pet the little thing and smiled, perhaps one of the more rare, true and honest smiles she gives nowadays.
Priscilla: Cats are wonderful critters. They’re affectionate, loyal, protective and a helluva comfort when ya need ‘em. If I din’t have Indy an Teddy… I prolly…
She trailed off, almost solemnly.
Priscilla cleared her throat, sipping her coffee.
Priscilla: So, why ya git intha this bi’ness, Ry? Wrestlin’ ain’t fer tha weak. Mama show’d me tha’. You workin’ out some personal anger issues? Purdy sure tha’s why NEW Edge fell inta mah lap. Ain’t gon’ lie, I’ve had some bad times lately, but, this ‘elps. ‘Elps calm tha’ rage. After last show, it felt good. Like it was worth it, yanno? Even after Mama… Even after Mama died. First time I felt normal in a while. Matchin’ Justice blow fer blow, well, it felt like home.
Rylee: I'm going to be really honest, but I'm not exactly sure what you just said. I gather you're asking what got me in the biz? Right…
Rylee looks puzzled but very interested in the conversation.
Rylee: We're just a girl from the Pacific Northwest that won the lottery of life. And, instead of like most of the billionaire kids, I actually followed through and built upon the riches our father afforded us.
She rocks in place for a few moments and her aura changes back to a far more calm and put together.
Ryleigh: I'm back, the mean one does like to talk about the past and it feels like that's where we're going.
Ryleigh picks up the cat that has been insisting on getting some of their attention. She shows the creature some love, even giving their little face a kiss.
Ryleigh: You've spoken of your mother a few times, was she in the biz too? I'm a second gen talent myself.
She nodded, grabbing her vape from her front pocket and taking a puff. She did love New Orleans, smoking wasn’t as prohibited here as it was back in New York.
Priscilla: My accen’ tha’ thick?
She laughed.
Priscilla: Surprisin’ fer growin’ up in New York, ain’t it? Chuckle. Yeah, my Mama was the first in our family ta step inta tha ring. She was many thin’s but she was flawless between those ropes. I ain’t much like ‘er, she was The Prophet, an I’m jes’ a bitchier version, but tha’s wha’ they bill me as. Dru was the one ta watch.
Gabe laughed softly, under his breath as she began talking about Dru. Anyone that watched both of those women, knew they were more than mother and daughter. They were copies of one another, who moved together effortlessly. Almost identical in stature, moves, ferocity, and cunning. While Priscilla herself didn’t see it, everyone else did. Especially Jesse and Johnny.
Priscilla: Wha’ you know ‘bout Abbigail? I saw Justice’ move set las’ week. Think I got her purdy nailed down. I seen a bit of how you move, yer quick. Whichever side of you was in tha ring, tha is. Far as I can tell, ya got some grit to ya. I dig that. You can hold yer own, so I ain’t worried ‘bout tha. But, I ain’t seen Abbi yet. She gon’ be a problem?
Another puff from the vape taken as she watched Ryleigh.
Priscilla: You def’n stand pure bred. Ya can see you a legacy in the bi’ness. Ya tough. Ain’t shy neither.
Priscilla knew her accent was thick, it always got heavier when she was in Louisiana, call it a coming home. This was where she first came to when Dru had her rescued, so this was home to her. Louisiana was her safe place. Her calm. She did hope, however, this wasn’t painting a bad picture for Ryleigh. While Priscilla sounded slow, she was quite the intelligent woman. A pure bred, in many circles, and one who could be whomever she needed to be. Like a Chameleon. One spiked with venom, obviously.
Priscilla: Maybe Jesse knew whut he was doin’ when he paired us togetha afterall.
Ryleigh: I've known Styles for a while now and he always has his finger on the pulse of the business. He knew we'd be a solid team and I pretty sure he wants to test the two of these two ladies. What I know about the young one is the little that's been shared so far. But, I can tell she's super green and such. Justice on the other hand is going to be the second one to get a face print in a table seeing that's the stipulation of our match!! Quick tags and cutting off the ring is always the best tactic for a tag team match in our opinion, does that make sense??
The Little Monster giggles as she finishes her latte. She nodded her head, finishing off her own coffee and smiling.
Priscilla: Perfec’ sense. Seems to me, Miss Ryleigh… This could be a damn fine parin’ between us. You gon’ stand beside me in the ring, that Sunday night? Maybe we write some Herstory among all this history? Kamikaze these bitches inta them tables, an’ mark our place in New Edge. You down?
Ryleigh: More than you even, sweetie. Let's show Jesse there needs to be tag titles that clearly we should hold? Now that's making a mark in our opinion!!
Priscilla pulled a card from her wallet, jotted her number down and smirked, handing it to Ryleigh.
Priscilla: Ya’ll give me a call, let’s grab supper. Talk action, table throws an’ how we gon’ wreck it. Yanno, Ry… I dig ya. Ya’ll cool chicks. And dude. *She smiled, gracefully.* Maybe this pairin’ ain’t so bad, seems like ya could be a frien’ in the end.
Ryleigh contemplates for a hot second.
Ryleigh: There's a fairly silent goddess that showed herself briefly, so we're a party of four right now. Everyone likes the woman we met today and agrees that we should pursue a friendship with you, Pris. Is it okay if we call you that? For a short name we like Ry or Ry-Ry, btw.
She gives her new friend a wink as her phone starts to ring.
Ryleigh: That's my girl so I gotta run, I'm sure we'll see you in the afternoon tomorrow. And, we're going to whoop dat ass for sure!!
Ry-Ry answers the call from Ryn Willow.
Ryleigh: Heya babe, you on your way to the cat coffee shop?
Ryn: I sure am in the Uber right now the stylist did a good job, can't wait for you to see it!
Ryleigh: I'm sure it's great, are you ready to change your life tonight?
Ryn: I think so…
Willow trails off.
Ryn: It's weird to be signing a contract with a top tier Fed again. We're going to be ready tho with the boot camp you set up for me. Thank you for that, babe. Here!
The Uber pulls to Paws and Brews. Ryn finds Ry-Ry surrounded by about no less than a half a dozen cats of all colors and sizes. As The Little Monster realizes her love is in the building her she sets the little gray cat in her lap on the floor and leaps in Ryn's arms two hug and kiss shortly.
Ryleigh: Wow, you look beautiful, Babe!
The much larger woman blushes.
Ryn: Thanks, Ry-Ry. This place is really cool!
Ryleigh: Did you want a coffee? It's really good here.
Ryn nods and the women get Willow her favorite beverage.
Ryn: Do you think the fans will remember me?
Ryleigh: Some will and some won't, don't worry though because they will soon enough.
The newer couple enjoy the rest of the afternoon seeing the sights in the Big Easy. Finishing the day with a nice dinner at Oceana Grill. They have their usual fun before bed and while sleeping Rylee has another connection with the most elusive of the personalities.
Rylee finds herself in an abandoned building alone, or at least she thought she was. The black cloaked figure. Alkaline by Sleep Token can be heard emanating from everywhere.
Sleep: Rylee…
A whispering can be heard.
Rylee: Yes, are you actually going to talk to me today?
Sleep: Between you and him I have my hands full keeping the peace around here.
Rylee: So it's really up that the proctor of all of us?
Sleep: Something like that.
MONSTER: Is there something that needs to be eliminated…
Rylee: I don't believe so, mister. You did a fantastic job when we needed you at the end of that last fight we had.
Sleep: I only released him because it was evident Velora needed to be taught a lesson for her transgressions.
Rylee giggles.
Rylee: It was fucking hilarious!!
Sleep: I suppose… Go back to your slumber, MONSTER?!?
MONSTER: Yes, Goddess!!
Rylee: I'm certain your services will be needed sooner than later!
Sleep: One last thing Little Monster, you have been dealing with the girlfriend quite well. It's clear you enjoy the fornication, so if you want to continue to have her around I suggest you let the nice on that not her do her thing. We all serve our purpose. Does that make sense??
Rylee: Yes goddess…
The sound of the song echoes for infinity…
Not acid nor alkaline
Caught between black and white
Not quite either day or night
She's perfectly misaligned I'm caught
up in her design
And how it connects to mine I see in a
different light
The objects of my desire
