Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, Ray Andrews Suite Top Floor
Ray Andrews sit back as he is watching Sportscenter and the reaction to his response at a recent press conference. He is being heavily criticized for his response and Ray gets a laugh out of it. The scene is being played once again for the fifth time on ESPN so far:
[Ray Andrews wearing his beige Armani suit, with Egyptian cotton shirt, and his all black shades on.]
Jeff Smith (USA Today Sports): Ray the other day you gave an endorsement to Domestick Disturbance and you said you were one hundred percent in their corner. You gave high praise to Johnny Styles and then you went on to give high praise to Hunter Valentyne?
Ray: Yes I did because to me Domestick Disturbance is the greatest tag team of all time. They have a proven track record and I have been on the other side of them a couple of times and came up short myself. Although those loses weren't my fault.
Shelly Smith (ESPN): But how could you endorse a guy like Hunter Valentyne after all of the animosity between you two? This is unbelievable if you ask me. Hunter is such a scumbag how can you now talk well about him? His leadership even cost your team a win at World War X.
Ray Andrews (tears streaming down his face): You know you guys can criticize him all you want, you can call him names and talk about his leadership, but it's really unfair. Styles Mafia is a team man. Hunter is my stablemate man. You guys can point the finger at him, and say he lead us the wrong way in Word War X. But the truth is we lost as a team. I love the Styles Mafia and when you guys say bad things it hurts dammit.
Back in the suite as Ray laughs his ass off Hannah Storm comments on Sportscenter:
Hannah Storm: Well a very Terrell Owens-like performance by Ray Andrews and as you can see he leaves with what looks like a smirk on his face. We'll have more on this story as ESPN tries to get the inside scoop on what’s really going on in the Styles Mafia in New Edge Wrestling.
Ray turns off the television after enjoying his morning entertainment and heads down to catch his limo to Heinz Field. He has been scheduled to take a tour of the Pittsburgh Steelers facilities. Ray is a huge life long Steelers fans and a lot of his toughness comes from the men he idolized growing up a Steelers fan in Canton ,Ohio. When it comes to Pittsburgh, this city might as well be called Mecca as far as Ray is concerned. He always feels a certain religious type fervor when he is here.
Ray had always dreamed of one day playing Pro Football, however an injury in his senior year in high school set him on a different path in life. His dream as a boy was to lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a National Title win and beat Michigan four years in a row. Then he would be drafted by the Steelers and win a lot of Superbowls , beating the Cowboys in most of them, and being named Superbowl MVP and do the Disney line afterwards.
Then after an outstanding career he would return home and be a first ballot Hall of Famer and be inducted in his hometown of Canton, Ohio. A dream that more than likely that was doomed to fail because reality doesn't often allow for such a fairy-tail like fantasy.
Where most people would bitch and complain about a lost dream and become bitter, Ray made things happen in his life and he emerged not only as a highly successful Marine , but in his second career he is one of the most successful wrestlers in the industry today.
Like his favorite football team , he has set a standard. Like his heroes he is mean Like Jack Lambert and Mean Joe Greene. Smart like Jack Ham, and punishing like Mel Blount and Donnie Shell. He has a nasty disposition like Gregg Lloyd and James Harrison, but in other ways he is smooth as Lynn Swann and tough as Rocky Bleier who played with half a foot on his right foot from a combat injury in Vietnam. Often times Ray has been unstoppable like “The Bus,” Jerome Bettis in his career.
He arrives at Heinz Field Stadium and heads into the facility and he is greeted by the Steelers' public relations representatives: Nathan LoCascio, Public Relations/Media Manager and Ryan Scarpino, Public Relations Assistant.
Nathan: Welcome Ray Andrews the King of Pain from NEW pro wrestling.
Ray Andrews: A pleasure to be here once again guys. You know how I feel about my Black and Gold.
Ryan Scarpino: We also know why those are the colors you wrestle in too. Now we have the usual tour of our facilities and we have Justin Labar here from Triblive.
Ray is familiar with Justin LaBar who covers lots of pro wrestling events on Wrestlezone, but Triblive where he reports for is also the official station for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ray is a big fan of the Ike Taylor show and Chair Shot Reality. Today he will appear on the latter. Justin comes up to him and shakes his hand.
Justin LaBar: Hey Ray I'm getting setup for the show. We have a great venue in The Press Box Lounge, because I know you love to look at the field man.
Ray Andrews: Thank man, that is one of my favorite places to do a show from.
Justin nods and heads off to finish up his work. The show is still abut an hour away. There are fans of the team and of KOP in the lobby area and they are waiting to talk with him.
There is no podium Ray has chosen to mingle and talk with fans in a more personal manner while signing autographs.
Fan: Hey Ray what do you think about the loss of Mike Wallace?
Ray: I don't. I mean he didn’t want to wear the Black and Gold anymore and now he will pay the price that other good Steelers wide outs who left the team in the past have paid. Santonio Holmes doesn't count because he was dealt away by the team, but you all remember Yancy Thigpen, Atwaan Randle El, and Nate Washington and others who left the Steel City and ended up no where near where they were here in Pittsburgh.
Fan 2: Hey KOP thanks for the autograph and I wanted to ask you about growing up in Canton, Ohio. I mean isn’t that like Browns territory? How did you make it there man?
Ray: Damn you guys are better than reporters asking these questions. The truth is there are a lot of Steelers fans in Canton and we stick together a lot. Best part is since the Steelers usually beat the Browns, so they can't say much to us.
Ray signs another autograph and a female fan walks up to him
Female Fan: KOP I'm a such a huge fan of yours and I want to know if your divorce is finalized so I can get my turn at you?
Ray: Well now the answer to that is YES.
Fans laugh and clap hands
Fan: Hey bro, I saw you taking pictures of the Immaculate Reception shrine outside in the parking lot. What is your take on that play Ray?
Ray: The ball clearly bounced off of Jack Tatum and the play was entirely legal. Those dumbass Raider fans are always crying about that play till this day. They are always the victims. I mean Al Davis built up a huge following by playing the role of the victim or being treated as an outcast type of thing. I mean even the “Tuck Rule Game,” they still cry over it and yet as much as we all hate the Patriots , you have to give them credit for the success they have had, just like the Steelers have had great success because they are always looking ahead to the future. The Raiders on the other hand have spiraled to irrelevancy like my opponent this week and the Raiders have been a horrible team since that game.
Ray: In his last days Al Davis and his boys spent a lot of time bringing up the past all of the time and living there. Al and his team were Lost in Time it seems.
More fans approach KOP and get stuff signed. He signs a lot of his merchandise as well as Steelers merchandise. He has good conversations with the everyone. The only thing missing here is the team itself , but it of course the off-season and they are with their families and on vacation. Besides it's not like he doesn't know the guys.
On his arrival last night he had dinner with Mike Tomlin and his family and had a great time. Ray was asking football questions and Mike asking wrestling questions. Both talked about their mutual friends. Then of course they both promised to arrange tickets for each others respective sporting events like they always do.
Ryan Scarpino comes out and announces that the session is over and that KOP has to move on to the other part of his tour. Ray nods and thanks the fans as he shakes some more hands on the way. He continues down the corridor and he looks at the pictures hanging on the wall. He see the Troy Polamalu's 4th quarter interception return for a touchdown in the 2008 AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens that lead the Steelers to Superbowl 43 that year. Ray was at that game and at Superbowl 43.
He continues down the hallway and there is a picture of “The Chief” Art Rooney the man who purchased the team in 1933. The picture is almost as good as the lifelike statue at gate D. Ray walks some more and then he arrives at the The Press Box Lounge and is greeted by Justin LaBar.
Justin Labar: Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another rendition of “Chair Shot Reality.” Today we have NEW Superstar ,and The Styles Mafia Enforcer The King of Pain Ray Andrews with us. Today we will talk about what is happening in New Edge Wrestling live from Heinz Field right here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Hello Ray Andrews!
Ray: Hello Justin and listening audience. It's great to be back in the Steel City. I have had a great time today touring the facilities once again and talking with fellow Steeler Fans.
Justin: Ah yes it is well known that the King of Pain loves his Black and Gold. Now setting football aside for the time being, let's get into what is going on with you in the ring man. I have to ask you about your endorsement of Domestick Disturbance on NEW radio. Are you for real? I mean even I find it hard to believe you are endorsing anything that involves Hunter Valentyne.
Ray: I'm not sure what I have to do anymore to convince people that I am the number one fan of Domestick Disturbance, and I am the number one team player in the Styles Mafia. I mean just ask Kronin and his United buddies if I am committed to the Styles Mafia.
Ray: Let's face it , me and Hunter had some stuff to get out of the way. It's a family thing with us in Styles Mafia. Two brothers who don't get along and they get into it with each other and have a knock down drag out fight. However, if someone gets into the family business then they had better watch the hell out. That's the mistake that Kronin and his United punks have made. Kronin has made the mistake of messing with the greatest owner ever in Jesse Styles.
Justin: You mean the same Jesse Styles who is also the most controversial NEW World Champion right now?
Ray: No I mean Jesse Styles who is worthy of being the NEW World Champion. Greatest world champion since one Johnny Styles if you ask me. Now NEW has the perfect man to represent it, not that lame ass Colt idiot.
Justin: Colt did you beat you recently didn't he?
Ray: Whats your point? You win some and you lose some. It happens to everyone. Don't piss me off Justin.
Justin: Whoa bro, me and you are cool man. Go Steelers bro. Okay so like what you are saying is that Styles Mafia is a cohesive group right?
Ray: You could say that we are the ones United, but that would be a corny suck ass name which is why we don't call ourselves that. I mean United is almost as bad as calling yourself Lost in Time. Besides a mafia sticks together, and there are consequences if you mess with one of the family so to speak. There is not one member I won't go to bat for. Hunter, Jesse , Johnny , Hazard, and Spaz are all backed and supported by the King of Pain. You will be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of these guys than myself.
Justin: Rumor has it that the reason you may have changed your tune is because Jesse Styles has laid out a nice bonus for you and other future opportunities.
Ray: I am a very misinterpreted person Justin. So many people accuse me of being all about money. I have a love and a true passion for what I do. I can assure you that money has nothing to do with anything I do. I have all of the money I need. I'm not concede and arrogant either. I am a very humble performer who respects all of his opponents and treats everyone with respect.
Ray: I mean seriously , if I didn't love what I did, then why would I step into the ring against some lame ass pogue like Lost in Time. I mean I'm not going to make a lot of cash against him am I? It's a five star matchup only because I'm in it.
Justin: Okay, okay speaking of Lost in Time, let me get some thoughts on this match against him. I mean you were on a two match losing streak, and Hunter helped you get back on the winning path with your victory over Steve Thomas. Some would say that is a lame way to get back on the winning path.
Ray: Only losers would say things like that Justin. You see as a I said before Styles Mafia is a unit. Hunter thought I was in a bit of trouble because truth is I wasn't feeling real good last week. I mean we were in Cincinnati which is nearly as bad as Cleveland, and the people there hate the fact that an Ohio boy is a Steelers fan. I have reason to believe that someone at the hotel put something in my food. So Hunter was only looking out for me.
Justin: I don’t know who buys that story Ray , but if that's what you want to run with........
Ray: I don’t care if people don't buy my story Justin. I don’t give a damn what people think. That's is exactly what happened and all that counts is that the members of the Styles Mafia know it's the truth. Now as for my match this week, the only thing that will be “Lost” is my foot up my opponents ass.
Ray: Lost in Time will find himself a victim of a good old fashion throwback ass whooping KOP style, and then he will be a thing of the past, a distant memory as the King of Pain moves on to bigger and better things. Lost in Time will find out what a bitch really is when he looks into the mirror after the show. Now I have to go Justin, I have business to take care of.
Justin: One more question before you leave us here on Chair Shot Reality Ray. What are your thoughts on the missing New superstar Mason Stockholm?
Ray: What? You said Mason is missing?
Justin: Yes no one has heard form him since he left Ignite 148 in Cincinnati.
Ray: Well all I can say is that maybe he is hanging out somewhere and doesn't want to be bothered. I mean he was on a terrible losing streak and guys on losing streaks sometimes lay low and try to gather themselves a bit. Of course he was in Cincinnati , and I told you what happened to me there. But all we can do is hope the guy is okay and he shows up soon.
Justin LaBar ends the show and KOP leaves the Press box, but not before taking one more look at his favorite pro football field. He heads out into the hall and out to the lobby. He thanks Nathan LoCascio and Ryan Scarpino for a great visit, and sends his best to Dan Rooney and Art Rooney III.
His Limo picks him up and Ray looks out across the parking lot where old Three Rivers Stadium used to be and for a moment he finds himself Lost in Time remembering the great games he watched on television growing up.
He then gets into the limo, feeling renergized and refreshed. He can't wait to perform this week in one of his favorite venues at Consol Energy Center where he knows he will make Lost in Time:
