“Sir, we have located the item that you have requested couple months ago.” A squirrelly man dressed in all dark green says in a thick New Yorker accent as he bows with his right arm cross his chest. “Sir, if I may ask. Why was this item hidden so well? It took three of my best trackers to verify that this item was actually existed.”
“Since your team has located this item,” Kody says as he pulls out a small brown bag out from his black back pad. “I have no problem telling the reason behind the secrecy but, first hand it over.”
The squirrelly man looks over his right shoulder and slowly nods. A figure separates itself out from the shadows that were near the concrete wall of the tunnel where the pickup was taking place. The figure is wearing a dark green hooded rob with the hood up to cover the figure’s eyes. Lying across the figure’s hands is a large decorative metal box. The figure walks over toward Kodiak and stops just out of reaching distance. A small fragile womanly voice asks, “Why?”
Kody wasn't expecting a woman to be the carrier of this item and blurts out with his right hand pointing at the squirrely man, “What did I tell you, bro? I told that I didn’t want to deal with any women during this pickup. The last time I dealt with a woman dealer, I nearly-”
“Answer her” The Squirrely man says with no emotion and no accent in his voice. “You thought I was in charge of this organization, Sir? I’m just a face of the organization and I normally deal with drop offs by myself. This time it was different because Madam Nelllo wanted the answer told to her directly.”
Kodiak stares at Madam Nelllo for a moment before asking, “I don’t talk to people who hide their faces from the world. Please, remove the hood and I will than speak to you face to face.”
Madam Nelllo lays the box onto the ground and slowly lowers her hood with her right hand. Kodiak takes couple steps back from Madam Nelllo as she says with a weak voice, “I revealed my face to you, how about you do the same?”
Madam Nelllo’s eyes are covered with dark green bandages that circles around her whole head. “I’m not wearing any masks! How in the world can you see me with those bandages covering your eye?” Kody says as he pulls on one of his cheeks with his left hand. “See lady, I think you truly can’t see anything behind those bandages and you’re trying to pull a scam on me.”
Madam Nelllo chuckles softly before coughing took over. She says meekly after the coughing episode passes, “You don’t physically a wear mask to hide your appearance from the world, Kodiak. You hide your true emotion from this world. I want to know which one is truly you are? Are you this jester that stands in front of me or are you the emotional less Kodiak that I see last week?”
“Well, I can’t give you straight answer about that, Lady. I say this because I don’t know myself and I don’t know when that will happen. I’m normally this carefree person that goes around and plays with his new toys but, sometimes a switch is flipped. When this happens I’m there to eliminate anyone or anything that is standing in front of me. I barely remember attacking Blitz last week.” Kodiak says as he casts his eyes down. “The thought that was bouncing around my head during my assault was that he needs to learn the meaning of respecting his boss.”
As Kody raises his eyes off the ground and back to Madam Nelllo, she was only two feet in front him. She says weakly, “So, you were trying to prove a point to any of the new guys? You have to earn respect before asking questions? If those questions are answer are you ready for the answers? The logical answer would be no.”
“I was trying to save him from causing himself harm at the hands of Styles Mafia. Did I achieve this goal? No. He needs to realize something about myself.” Kody say as he takes a step closer to Madam Nelllo. “I’m nobody’s attack dog in this company and I have no ties with Styles Mafia or Jesse. I was showing Blitz that if he couldn’t defend himself against me after his match then he would get destroyed by Jesse’s goons! Look what that fucker did later in the show.” Kodiak takes another step. “He got man handled by KOP and for his troubles he was sent through many wooden pallets. So, I guess I have to do a more direct approach to me teaching the young Blitz.”
Madam Nelllo extends her right hand out just inches from Kodiak’s belly. She says meekly, “Money”
Kodiak looks down at the shorter Madam Nelllo, “Money? You want money now? After you prodded the bear for information about my actions? So, I take it that my answer was good enough for, lady.”
She whispers as Kody drops the brown bag into her hand, “You’re answer wasn’t for me to judge because one day all of us will be judged. Does the answer make your heart lighter or did it darken? I’m just beacon for them to hear and pass their judgment of you when your day finally comes.”
“W-What wait come back” Kody pleads as Madam Nelllo begins to walk away from him toward the squirrely man. “What do you mean them?”
Madam Nelllo says meekly as she and squirrelly man kept walking away, “You’re not ready for those answers, Kody. One day, you will be knowledgeable for that nugget of information. Blitz is your problem this week and you should be focusing on him.”
“Nobody tells me what to do” Kody grumbles as he walks to the large metal box.
On the lid of the metal box is a detailed T-Rex carved into the lid. Kody bends down and picks up the metal box, “I guess they didn’t care about why this box was hidden so well from the public eye. Now the next challenge is getting this stupid thing placed without being seen.”
Kody slowly spins around to exit the tunnel the other way, Brit is leaning up against the concrete wall slowly flicking a lighter on and off. “How long have you have been standing there, Brit?” Kody says with a nervous chuckle. “Before you go and yell at me about meeting another woman in the dark-”
Brit pushes herself off the wall and says walking toward her boyfriend, “I don’t care that you’re keeping secrets from me because everyone has a right to keep things from other people. I don’t care that you’re slowly becoming Kodiak, who doesn’t care which person he hurts as long as they cry out in pain. I was getting use to the jester and all of his care freeways.” She slowly runs the back of her left hand down Kody’s cheek. “I won’t abandon you but, you need to promise me something Kody.”
“What is it, Brit?” Kody asks as Brit begins to shake
“I-I don’t want to throw the last handful of dirt on your coffin before you’re an old bastard.” She says with her head down and tears beginning to stream down her cheeks. “I-I don’t know what I will do if you go and get yourself killed because of you need to prove yourself. I-I”
Kody drops the metal box down the ground and quickly hugs his girlfriend. She begins to softly punch him in the chest before coming to her tears. Kodiak says as Brit cries into his shoulder, “I didn’t realize that you feared for my life this much, Brit. Why didn’t you tell me that I was doing things that caused you great pain?”
Brit says between sobs, “B-because you were smiling and happy for the first time in years. I missed your smile and your laughter. It wasn’t your face that made me fall in love with you, dear. It was your laughter that made my cold heart feel warmth again.”
“Brit” Kody whispers as Brit tightens her grip on the front of his shirt. “Love, please don’t get yourself killed for me or anyone you love.” Brit whispers back. “If you die doing something stupid because of us. I-I don’t want to be the reason why you’re not around anymore. I want to grow old with you and hopefully one day we can live in the days of rest.”
“I have to finish what I have started, Brit.” Kody says as he softly kissed her on her forehead. “I have to show Blitz that he can’t go around making demands without the boss man pushing back. For his actions last week, he is being thrown into the Kodiak Den. I need to teach him not to pick a win less battle.”
