Alexis groaned as she moved her pillow-turned-into-a-huge-rice-pack up her back a little more. It’s amazing how heating rice up (in this case in the oven) could last so long and one could mold it into the perfect position. Lexis could hear Gabriella moving about in her room at the Long Island Marriott, trying to put their things away. When Gabe saw Alexis’ upper back as one giant bruise; she had insisted on letting her do all the heavy work and she would not take no as an answer. Finally Gabe stopped twitching in the apartment and turned her attention to Alexis.
“Are the pain meds wearing off? Do you need more?” Gabe asked as she already started to look at the numerous bottles.
“Gabriella, I don’t need any more,” Alexis said and yawned, “They are making me see things out of the corners of my eyes. I still don’t think that mixing different types of pain medicine was a good idea.”
Gabriella frowned, “Well I don’t think getting wacked in the back was a good idea either.”
Alexis looked over at Gabe and raised her eyebrow. Normally Gabriella doesn’t fuss like this.
“What crawled into your panties and died?”
Gabe sighed, “It’s just, seeing that mean lady stand over your body; like you were just some helpless kitten that she could just toss out of a window of a speeding car. It made me realize tha-“
“Gabriella you don’t have to worry about me. I haven’t slacked off in my months off from wrestling and I will be damned if some chair takes me down,” Lexis said before nodding over to Gabe’s computer, “What you should be doing is researching on who was out of their minds to attack me.”
Gabe shifted her gaze down and kicked at something invisible on the carpet.
She mumbled, “I already know who it is….Her name is Sarah Twilight.”
Alexis raised an eyebrow, “Why did you wait to tell me?”
Gabe shrugged, “Because you would get all fired up on and I know you need to rest.”
Alexis shot Gabriella a ‘really, that was all’ look, gaining a defeated sigh from her friend. Gabe moved over to her desk and pulled out the yellow leaf folder that was tucked under her laptop. She tossed it onto the bed before sitting down in the chair.
“This is what I can find about Miss Twilight. She’s has had an….interesting history much to one like yours,” Gabe said before turning to the computer, “The difference between the two of you. She has allowed taint into her heart whereas you put up a stone wall up against it.”
Alexis looked up from the folder at Gabe who was now focused on her laptop. She studied her childhood friend for a moment before getting off the bed. She placed her hand on Gabe’s shoulder and smiled.
“She didn’t have a Gabriella there to help guide her. Souls are like swords, if you heat them up just right, they become strong and sharp. But too much leaves them brittle and able to crack at the slightest of pressure. I had a Blacksmith to guide me where as she didn’t have someone to take her out of the fire fast enough,” Alexis said before sitting back on the bed, “I don’t think I ever told you thank you. It is long overdue my friend. Thank You.”
Gabe lowered her head, her lip quivering before turning to look at Alexis. Before Alexis could open her mouth to ask what was wrong, something popped up onto the screen. Gabriella read the text in front of the link before frowning.
“Sapphire sent this email; she says it is important for us to take a look at it.”
Gabriella clicked on the link, bringing up YouTube and made the video go to full screen. The video was titled “American Icon – Statue of Liberty”. Both ladies watch the video with tights lips but when it came to the part of where he talked about Alexis, Gabe turned to watch her expression. Nothing showed but Gabe knew that down in Lexis’ gut, a fire was being kindled. When the segment was over, Gabe closed the window.
“Needless to say, he’s one of your opponents in your upcoming match. The other two are LA Kief and Poppa K. I’ve got their files as well if you want to read them,” Gabe said, pulling out three more yellow leaf folders.
Alexis took them and flipped through them, biting her lip while she was deep in thought.
“Alexis?”
“Gabe, I think I need to set the Icon straight on his facts so tip the swarm off that I am going to the Nassau Coliseum to ‘exam my battlegrounds’,” Alexis muttered.
Gabriella nodded and left the hotel room to go down to a local coffee shop. She was going to tip the paparazzi but she wasn’t going to be in the hotel when she did it. Gabe knew that those leaches are extremely hard to shake off once they latch on and Alexis normally doesn’t like going in front of them.
Alexis sighed and turned to face the mirror to access her appearance. She frowned when she wasn’t the only one in the mirror.
“Was wondering when you were going to show your ugly mug around here.”
“Such harsh words to speak to your father; no worries, I will forgive you.”
Alexis turned away from the mirror to the man standing in front of her bed, only three feet away from her. He stood five foot eight inches tall, lean for a man but perhaps that is what death does to one. His chin was covered with stubs from not shaving; his black hair was swept back and his once green eyes where now silver. Alexis didn’t look like her father; she was always more like her mother.
“I didn’t ask for your forgiveness. Nor do I want you here, leave,” Alexis growled.
Amare ran over to Alexis, her hackles raised as she stared at the apparition, snarling. Alexis lowered her hand to run down the canine’s fur. Her father’s eyes trailed from her down to the dog before his own lip curled up into a wicked smile.
“This was from HIM wasn’t it? I can sense his stinky aura on it. Nevertheless, I am glad he is gone from your life and I can assure you that he won’t be coming back anytime soon. That way I can have more time with my precious daughter,”[/front] his eyes darted to the mirror, “That Sarah Twilight did a number on your back. It was a good thing she went for the back and not the head or else our time would have been cut short. I do like her you know. She’s radiates hatred, something I was hoping you would have.”
Alexis closed the gap between her father; making her face to face with her father.
“What the hell did you do to Xandor? If you hurt him, I swear that nothing on this realm or the next can stop me from tearing your pathetic soul one string at a time,” her voice oozed with anger.
Her father smiled and cupped her face only to have Alexis shove his hand away.
“Perhaps my seed is still in your heart; seems as if your boyfriend didn’t heal your soul as much as you thought. Well, we will be seeing each other again in the future. Until then, my sweetie,” Her father said before bending down to give her a kiss on the forehead.
Her father disappeared before Alexis could do anything to retaliate. Alexis turned and swung into the wall, sending her fist through it. The door opened and Gabriella stood in the doorway looking from Lexis to the wall.
“Well I guess we aren’t going to get our deposit back. They expect you to be Coliseum in two hours; you get ready and I will deal with that,” Gabe said as she mentioned towards the hole.
Alexis walked down the aisle, heading towards the open area where the paparazzi awaited for her. She tailed her hand on the tops of the chairs as she walks down.
“I will start with the message that I can down here for. American Icon, I saw your video and I heard what you said. The words you speak are probably on the minds on every other viewer but you are not reading in between the lines. Perhaps the only thing you got true was about my mother, the one that I can’t even remember her face. The house fire that killed my father was a blessing for he didn’t just hurt himself, he would hurt me,” Alexis paused and pulled out a crowbar from her bags, “The doctors classified me with Eisoptrophobia, the fear of mirrors, when I was little. They didn’t know that my father would come home from work, tear me from my hiding spots in my room and take me down to the basement. It wasn’t just any basement though; the walls were covered with mirrors. He would then take items that one would find in the car, such as this crowbar and would use it to cause me pain. What did he say to justify it? That I looked too much like my mother, that I made him relive the pain of her dying every time he saw me.”
“I was put on drugs to keep me relaxed and, with all the mirrors gone, I did live a normal life. But it didn’t last long till my father found ways to get to me from the other side. Xandor was a true Messiah for he was able to keep my father away from me. I was truly safe for once and with the love and support of Xandor and my friends, I was able to heal. I already know how to overcome obstacles far greater than you can even fathom,” Alexis smiled, “After all; I did earn to be called the Fire in the Fire and Ice tag team. My fire burns hotter than anyone else and the obstacles just add to the flames. My word advice to you, Kief, Poppa K, and Sarah is to stay out of my way. When you mess with fire, you are bound to get burned.”
Alexis walked over to Gabriella and grabbed some folders from her.
“You see Mr. Icon. You are just like our leaders here in America. You are ignorant to what you see in front of you. You play with things, tempting fate with no fear. Sure there’s the saying that ‘the only thing to fear is fear itself’ but sometimes shutting off your mind and following your gut does you so much better. After all, using your mind will be affecting by your ‘Me’ part of your mind. Your judgment will be clouded and innocents will be hurt. I expect you to bring it all, even in your age but don’t think your opponents won’t do the same,” she said before flipping open a folder, leafing through it.
“It was sort of sad when I read what Gabe could find. No much on my opponents’ history could she find. It is almost better that way for then I go in expecting everything. Though I must say that I can’t wait to wipe Poppa K’s smirk off of his face at our match. He calls me a newbie when I was the first and last Tag Team champion of ACW. No one was able to defeat us and yet he calls me a newbie? He’s the reason why people still call blacks Drunken Niggers. In fact, he might be in the running with Lisa and Thomas for the person I hate the most. I can’t wait to show him what real pain is, what is to disrespect your opponents.”
Lexis motioned to the arena around her, “I can’t wait to put your face into the mat in front of all the viewers. To show you that I am not some bitch you can toss around.”
Alexis tossed the folder up, letting the papers fall out and drift to the ground. She stood there, watching the papers flitter down.
“Listen up boys. Besides Kief, we all pretty much have a clean plate here, one that isn’t tainted by our records. This is when the fans start picking out who they like. This four way TV match, it’s pretty much our debut. Sure I had a match against Lisa last week but that was against an old….friend. You boys will be new blood, faces that I have never seen before and something I just can’t just go into the motions. You three will keep me on my toes, having to make decisions on the mat instead of in the locker room. The only thing that I can plan is your style but other than that, it’s going to be fun.”
Alexis winked and turned around as the paparazzi started their numerous questions. They prodded her with questions, trying to get her to talk more about her father’s death, about what she means about Xandor helping her when her father was supposed to be dead. But one question got her to turn around. A small red headed reporter had asked what about Sarah Twilight and does she plan on doing anything to her.
Alexis smiled, “Sarah got a cheap shot in but now since I know she is lurking around in the shadows, I will be watching. She has chosen the wrong person to start a war with but I do have one thing to say to her. Bring it.”
With that Alexis grabbed her bag and ran out with Gabriella. She knew in a couple of hours, the video that the leaches had gotten would go viral and all Lexis has to do is sit back and watch.
