Onboard The Patriot One
George has just received a phone call from Betty Davis a former girlfriend of his and an American Express Marketing Representative.
George: So Betty what do you want ?
Betty: Don't think for one minute that I want to talk to you either George, but I have a job to do. I am calling to let you know that American Express has decided to drop you as a spokesperson for the company.
George: What? Why?
Betty: Come on George for once in your life figure it out. Your stance on immigration, your criticism of the President of the United States, and your plain old fashioned views of American Society.
George: So I am being persecuted for my beliefs? Really?
Betty: George the company feels they can no longer be associated with you or what you stand for. Your getting more difficult to deal with in a business sense than even Lance Armstrong.
George: That hurts Betty, and that was a real low blow. What happened to us Betty?
Betty: You changed George not me. Once upon a time you stood for all Americans regardless of what their views of America where.
George: I just know that what I believe actually works for America , because it has in the past. Besides I still stand for all Americans and what they believe Betty that hasn't changed.
Betty: So do you stand for Valora? I mean she is an American Citizen too, and she has every right that any American Citizen is entitled too. That includes the right to disagree with your views.
George: That woman is nuts Betty! She wants all of Mexico to come live in America.
Betty: Well we at American Express think she is a true representation of what America really is today, and we are talking about approaching her and several other superstars to be our new spokesperson.
George: Well if that's how you folks want to play this game then I want my account canceled, and I'm running my card in the shredder right now.
Betty: Goodbye George and good riddance.
The call ends with both George and Betty effected by emotions that they both thought were in the past. George grabs some Tang and mixes him an orange drink. George sits back and as he enjoys one of his favorite drinks of all time. He looks at the powdered mix container and wonders what the hell ever happened to Tang's once great popularity.
He remembers that Tang was once endorsed by NASA and all the astronauts swore by it in commercials. It was one of the most popular drink mixes in America and people loved it. However, somewhere along the line Tang was suddenly no longer popular. Tang is very difficult to find today, George orders it off of Amazon and has it shipped to Hanks house. George wonders if The American Icon is now the Tang of the wrestling world.
He slides his laptop over in front of him and he pulls up the information he needs on his opponent this week Jake Youngblood. Jake is another young and up and coming talent that is looking for a quality win and a victory over a big name to add to his resume.
George knows he can't allow this to happen this week. He has been on a recent losing streak and now he has to get back to who he is in the ring and refocus on what he does best. He knows soon that there will be a showdown with Valora and he will have to make a statement on that day. However, he isn't stupid. He knows he can't expect to take Valora down if he can't put away the Jake Youngbloods of the world.
George places a call to Stacy and has her set up a link to NEW so he can deliver his address to his opponent.
George: Stacy I need your help again with this technology stuff.
Stacy: Okay Mr. Washington, I'm getting you set up right now.
George looks into his laptop camera, and he begins to speak when Stacy gives him the green light:
The American Icon: Hello NEW it's good to be home again in the good ol US of A. I mean Japan has a lot of history and they certainly have history with us. That is why I was a bit nervous over there, for the simple matter that they snuck us once and they could always do it again.
Icon: Now I know some of you liberal minded “let's be friends with everyone,” thinking people will say that was back in 1941 and it's 2013 now. You will say that we don't have to worry about them because they have been our friends , but you people say that about the Arabs too.
Icon: Anyway this week I step into the ring against Jake Youngblood. Now Jake is a fellow Chicagoan, and that scores points in my book big time. However, I have an issue with him in that he will do anything to get ahead in this business.
Icon: Now when someone says they will do anything , that means they will compromise their very morals to get ahead. They will betray who they are . So I'm not so sure I can trust a guy like this , much less respect him. Anyone who lives by this philosophy will flip flop worse then a Democratic Presidential candidate.
Icon: Jake Youngblood, you need to gain focus and find out what it is you believe in. You need to set a goal and commit to it son. Only then will you find success in this industry. As much as I criticize Valora and Hunter Valentyne , they are consistent in what they do.
Icon: I have a goal that I am committed to Jake. That goal is to beat some sense into you this week son. Once you have experienced the Rockets Red Glare from the Star Spangled Warrior, you will know what it is like to face a man committed to a cause.
Icon: Oh and Valora I will stop your madness even if it cost me my career. I will send a message to you through Jake Youngblood. I hope you pay attention Chica!
The feed ends and George sits back and he gets ready to prepare for his daily workout. He then hears a knock at the door. Upon walking up to open the bus door , he is suddenly surprised by who is visiting him.
George: Emma!
Emma: Hey George, how have you been? Do you mind if I come on board?
George can't believe that Emma more commonly known as Miss Americana to American Icon fans is standing in front of him.
George: I thought after the whole Nurse Darla thing that we would never hear from you again.
Emma: You were right George, I was way to much of a liberal, and if I had listened to you I would have never been kidnapped and molested by Darla.
George I hear she is locked away now, but anyway it is good to see you again. Would you like a nice tall glass of Tang?
Emma: How do you still drink that stuff?
George: This drink was good enough for the American Space program Emma, and it's still good enough for The American Icon.
Emma: Well I have been watching you lately and I can tell your not quite the old American Icon I know in the ring. I think I know why George. You need me.
George: It's been tough having the American Icon without Miss Americana to look after things. I sure would love to have you back with me and Hank. So yeah let's get the band back together. Your room is as you left it.
Emma: Thanks buddy, my luggage is outside. Think you can give a good ol southern gal from South Carolina a hand?
George: I suppose I can help a Southerner out since it's you Emma.
Emma: Same old George.
The American Icon smiles as he is glad to have his partner and manager back on board. He can't wait to call Hank and tell him the good news. But even more he feels rejuvenated and can't wait to take down Jake Youngblood on his way to his future showdown with Valora.
