Surviving rehab was the tip of the iceberg. Doctor Watts was a miracle worker - the things he did for Keelan Cetinich in the two-three month time period within the rehab are unexplainable. Doctor Watts gave him a series of exercises to do each day, and at 6:00pm there would be a debrief. Keelan would go to a meeting with a group of about a dozen people each Sunday and discuss the troubles of alcohol and drugs. Watts eventually discharged him from the rehab center and Keelan was now a clean, and healthy man looking for a fresh start.
But yes, that was indeed the tip of the iceberg. That wasn't the only set of obstacles in the way of Keelan. He was sent the NEW contract at his apartment and he sat with his two best friends, Rick and Lucy, and read through it. But, yeah, he signed it. Why not? Jesse Styles was not THAT bad of a guy ... was he? The reason he left NEW in the first place because of the disgusting way he was treated a few years back - and he'd been there not even a full fortnight.
But Keelan, regardless of this fact, signed this NEW contract and is now a full-time NEW wrestler. But why? Maybe he just missed competing in the ring, and wanted to return to the one thing he loves most. Maybe he wants to grab hold of a golden championship belt and be under the spotlight again, and let it all sink in as he gloats and poses in front of the world. Or maybe ... JUST maybe he wanted some retribution. Maybe he wanted to teach Jesse Styles a lesson. A lesson in respect - in which Keelan has earned time-in and time-out. A few slaps the face or a couple of punches to the jaw wouldn't be enough. A bit of cuts and bruises wouldn't do the trick either. No - Jesse deserves the whole package. But how could he give it to him? Keelan would have to figure this out, and get his timing right.
Now, after two events in the result of winning a six pack challenge match and losing a one on one contest, Keelan must focus on the 5th Year Anniversary show, in where he competes in NEW's 4th Royal Rumble Match. Hmm ... this would be the place to make a statement, and show the world that Keelan is not just another man in the crowded room leaning against a wall...
"This Royal Rumble is not going to be a walk in the park, Keelan." Rick said, as he grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.
Rick, Lucy and Keelan were placed in one of the smallest locker rooms for Ignite 152. The room smelt of old food, expired milk and, weirdly, sweat and shame. If the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit was an alleyway behind a strip join at midnight, this locker room would be that alleyway. Luckily for the three though, there was a nice, black couch seated in the center of the room with a wooden table set in front of it.
"Yeah I know," Keelan began, and took a sip if water from his bottle he already had in his hand. "I've been in a Royal Rumble match before in TEW a couple of years back. 40 men and every superstar had a weapon to bring out."
"What'd you bring out?" Lucy asked curiously.
Keelan hesitated, and stared at the corner of the dirty and dusty room, and replied, "a uh ... a chair."
"Well this isn't a hardcore Royal Rumble match alright," Rick said, sitting down in-between Lucy and Keelan. "This is your chance to make the statement you want Keelan. If you win this, you are guaranteed some championship match in the next month!"
Keelan digested what he said, and slowly nodded his head and smirked. He could just see it now. Keelan, defeating Dixie Clement for the Young Blood Championship. Or Keelan, delivering a Killer-KO in such perfection to KOP that it knocks him out and Keelan wins the TV Championship. Or even locking in the Death Vice on Hazard on top of a ladder and making him submit to win the X-Core Title ...
...
Or better yet ...
...
Keelan giving everything he has in a brilliant, competitive, back-and-forth, one-on-one contest with Inkt, and beating him with the Killer-KO. When the referee counts the three, the fans jump to their feet in celebration as Keelan becomes a 1-time NEW World Champion.
Keelan smirks.
"I can see myself winning this Royal Rumble guys," He said with full confidence that he jumps to his feet, and practices punching and dodging an invisible opponent.
"Keelan, sweetie I'm glad your clean and everything, but it seems like you've still got hallucinations," Lucy said, standing up. "I mean, you're entering in number four in this Royal Rumble, what makes you think you're going to have the better chance of winning?"
Keelan Cetinich turned to her. He wasn't angry he was too excited to be angry. He rolled his eyes with excitement and smiled. He put his hands on her shoulders.
"Because I'm going to eliminate every single mother fucker in that Royal Rumble by myself. I have begun my path of recovery, and I have 22 obstacles in my way but I'm going to keep pushing through. I need to build my confidence and momentum for the biggest obstacle in my path - Jesse Styles. When I get to him, I am going to take over this company! I'll fuck him up so bad, he wouldn't want to come back to this place." Keelan explained and gave her a kiss on the forehead before jumping up and down, pumped and ready for action.
He rolled over the couch and grabbed another water bottle out of the fridge, before heading to the door.
"Where are you going?" Rick asked.
"I'm psyched guys - I'm gonna go train." Keelan said, as he opened and slammed the door on his way out. All Rick and Lucy could do was stay put, and hope that Keelan isn't overdoing this...
