The Champ and a new challenger
‘The lights in the NEW Arena darken and ‘Prayer’ by Disturbed plays over the PA bringing a mixture of cheers and boos from the crowd. A few moments pass before Valora walks out from the backstage area with the New Edge World Title draped over her shoulder and pauses with her trademark smirk as she looks over the crowd. Finally, after giving the World title a pat, she makes her way down to the ring and climbs in, looking around at the crowd as she takes a mic and paces about the ring, gathering her thoughts.
Jill Matthews: “And as is custom after the pay per view, we have the World Champ out to address the crowd! Valora became World Champ for the first time ever last week in Cancun, Mexico and now, Valora’s reign officially begins!”
Vince Walters: “Well, this isn’t Mexico. She won’t have the advantage she had there again. She’ll have to find a way to hold onto that belt and that is easier said than done!”
Valora smirks as she continues pacing around and finally points to the tron where a Mexican flag is displayed, which brings cheers from the Mexican fans/latino fans and boos from other fans. Voices play over the PA:
Voice 1: “Valora can’t win without a weapon in her hand. No talent.”
Voice 2: “Takes shortcuts. Hasn’t paid her dues. Hasn’t earned her spot.”
Voice 3: “Overrated. Doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the World Title.”
The voice stop for a second as Valora smirks and shakes her head before shrugging.
Valora: “Just too fuckin’ bad I’m The MOTHER FUCKIN’ CHAMP isn’t it? I beat the best technical wrestler in the world at the moment, Matt Slater in a clean, straight up wrestling match. Lucha Libre vs. European Technical Wrestling and on that night, in Cancun, Mexico. Lucha Libre won. Next time? It might be a different story. But Matt... if you want to know how I feel about our match... I have NEVER shaken anyone’s hand after a match before. As you know I’m rarely in the running for sportswoman of the year...”
Jill Matthews: “That’s an understatement.”
Vince Walters: “Thought she was your girl.”
Jill Matthews: “I do like her, but she’s never been one to play by the rules, really.”
Valora looks at the World Title and smiles as she holds this up.
Valora: “See this, folks? This title right here is what its all about.. People ask themselves why the fighters in New Edge put themselves through hell week in and week out, risk their bodies, their careers, their lives... This right here.. This is it. If you’re not here to hold this belt at some point... you have no business in MY fed! I call it my fed because as its champion, that’s exactly what it is. Jesse Styles might own it. He might be the force behind it. But In the ring? I own this bitch. That’s something a few people forgot. Those people don’t deserve to have their names mentioned and thus I won’t waste my breath doing so. Ever since I won this belt, people have been wondering what kind of a champion I’ll be...”
Valora pauses as a cheer starts to rise from the crowd and smirks a bit.
Valora: “Well, anyone who needs to ask that question obviously hasn’t been payin’ attention to what I’ve been saying! This belt has been in trouble for a long time. Matt Slater finally brought some fuckin’ dignity back to the title. That’s right, Matt. Slater. He and Nocturnal had a good battle for the belt. He and I had a damn good fight for the belt. So, as I’ve been saying for months now. If I ever get a hold of the World Title, I’ll make it mean something. I’ll show people what it means to be a champion. In fact, if any-”
‘Hurt’ by Johnny Cash plays as Jesse Styles walks out with a smirk on his face.
Vince Walters: “Yes! The Boss is out here! Things are about to get interesting!!”
Jill Matthews: “I guess it would be too much to expect that Valora get what she’s earned...”
Jesse Styles: “I know, I know.. lemme guess blah, blah fighting champion, blah blah, blah defend against anyone, blah blah blah. God, Val... I think I liked you more when you the big bad ass. Anyways, I’m glad you like the whole fighting champion thing, because tonight... the winner of Bobby Backdoor vs. Kronin fights you next week for the World Title!”
Valora rolls her eyes and sighs.
Valora: “Hey! Gringo! I’m your god damned champion! I read the fuckin’ cards... tell me something I don’t know!”
Jesse Styles narrows his eyes and nods as the crowd cheers and rallies behind Valora.
Jesse Styles: “Alright.. well, here’s something you and these STOOPID fans didn’t know! I have your challenger for Cold Front all picked out, so let’s bring him out!!”
Valora: “Good! Bring his ass out!”
Slipknot’s “Duality” hits the speakers as out walks Hazard. The Xcore Championship draped over his shoulder, as it normally would be. The seven footer walks up beside Jesse and just bores a hole right through the Heavyweight Champ with a menacing glare. He crosses both arms over his chest as Jesse points to him and nods in approval, having felt like he picked the best possible candidate for the match. Meanwhile, the crowd gives Hazard a mixed reaction, much like they’d done for Valora’s entrance.
Vince Walters: “OH yeah, baby! Don’t challenge the boss! Betcha Valora is regretting her take all comers stance now, haha!”
Jill Matthews: “She doesn’t seem to be.”
In the ring, Valora stares Hazard down and the two are silent as the crowd feeds off the tension before Valora brings the mic to her lips. “This guy? This guy that I beat. Twice?! He’s your ace in the hole? Works for me. Let’s do this shit!”
Jill Matthews: “Like her or not, you have to admire Valora’s spunk and never back down spirit. She truly will take on anyone, anytime.”
Vince Walters: “I’ll concede that. Its why she has that belt right now, but its also going to shorten her career.”
Jesse raises the stick to his lips, but before he can utter a word it’s taken away by Hazard, who never removes his from Valora or the title adorning her body. The big man takes a couple of steps forward and then slowly lifts his free hand, pointing at her.
Hazard: “Beat me twice. That’s amusing, Valora..and oh so naive.”
The big man lowers his head, growling into the mic while Jesse just stands by, nodding at everything the Monster is in the process of saying.
Hazard: “You have no clue how long I’ve waited to say this. How many times I’ve watched men and women like yourself rise to the very top of New Edge. Become the Heavyweight Champion. Be the face of this company. And do you know why, for fifteen years, I’ve refused to pursue the ultimate prize in NEW?”
He raises his head, now making eye contact once again with Valora. Also, showcasing a wicked grin that had developed on his face.
Hazard: “It’s not because I didn’t have what it takes. It’s not because I couldn’t catch any breaks. Truth be known, the ONE reason I’ve stayed clear of that title is.. I’m a very patient man.”
Some of the smart fans catch on immediately and start with the cheering and jeering as the crowd as a whole becomes quite vocal over the message Hazard is trying to convey. Meanwhile, Valora continues to stand in the ring. Her expression changing slightly but her body language not.
Jill Matthews: Patient man, Vince? What is he even talking about?
Vince Walters: I like where this is going! You tell her Haz!
Hazard: “But my patience has run dry..Which means at Cold Front, the insects will no longer control the kingdom I’ve LET THEM RULE.. Whether it be Kronin, or Bobby Backdoor, or even you, Valora.. Whoever the Heavyweight Champion is at that time? They’d better prepare.. because I’m done watching pathetic whelps like you carry around a title they THINK they’re worthy of. And before you open that yap of yours, take note.. Winning a Title belt is half the battle, Valora. Hanging onto it is a completely different ‘Monster’...”
Hazard pats his own Xcore Title a couple of times before calmly relinquishing the mic back to Jesse Styles.
Jill Matthews: It sounds like Hazard is more determined now than he ever has been before, Vince! I’d say the fans are in for one hell of a match at Cold Front, depending on who the Heavyweight Champion is!
Vince Walters: What do you mean ‘depending’?! Hazard is the Monster! It doesn’t make a difference who’s in a match with him, you already know it’s going to be barbaric!!
Slipknot’s “Duality” begins once more as the fans continue with the cheers and jeers for both competitors. Hazard turns and heads back behind the curtains. Jesse follows shortly after, but not before waving farewell to Valora in a sarcastic fashion. This leaves the Heavyweight Champ still in the ring, staring at the entrance way with a somewhat amused look on her face. Now aware of who she may very well fight at Cold Front.
After they leave, Valora continues staring at where they had been, a look that has never been seen on the Hardcore Icon's face covering it now. Not fear. Just a solemn, determined expression.
Valora: "You like to try to scare people Hazard. You play the bully well. I'll give you credit, you convinced most of the wrestlers in the back that you're unbeatable, even AFTER I beat you. But listen well you wannabe bigfoot hairy mother fucker, I WILL be champ at Cold Front and I'll STILL be champ after I beat you AGAIN!"
Valora drops the mic down and leaves the ring, as the crowd gives her another mixed reaction, though a few more cheers than boos this time as she leaves.
Jill Matthews: "Okay, I'm already officially excited to see Valora vs. Hazard 2."
Vince Walters: "We agree on that, at least!"
Jill Mathews: Well we are home live from the NEW Arena here tonight and we will be right back after a word from our sponsors with our opening match of the evening!
